"The technicians performed routine maintenance and repair of two boilers their company installed two years ago. They did a thorough job of flushing the water heating lines, testing the system, and re-installing a low-water shut off valve that had failed last year. I have used this plumbing company for years and will continue to do so, highly recommended to people in the Northeast New Jersey area."

"Fred came in on 2 occasions. First time to repair my boiler. He did a great job at 1/3 the price PSE&G wanted. The second time he came in to fix a broken backflow valve that PSE&G would not !! He did both very well. He knew the problems before I could even tell him. I would highly recommend Fred."

"It was a superb experience. From the visit by Bruce the sales representative to the installation day to the follow-up from Petro, every single person we interacted with was helpful and professional. When Bruce arrived to do the assessment, we spent time going over the heating needs in the house. After a thorough inspection and measurement of the house, we sat down. He showed me a few options, all of which were going to provide good service. I ordered a unit at the end of that meeting. The installation day was just terrific- the entire work crew that showed up were everything I would hope to find: Upbeat, informative, hard-working, focused. The job was finished before end of day as promised. The heater room is now immaculate, with new piping and a new heater. It was like watching a pit crew at a NASCAR race. Everyone had their tasks, they moved carefully but quickly. The materials were all laid out in order, etc. Just a totally professional approach to their work. The crew boss answered any questions I had. The follow-up for a normal inspection of the furnace chimney was scheduled the day after the installation. I’ve gotten calls to insure we are satisfied with the work. Satisfied barely covers it- I am pleased to write this kind of review. Without hesitation I will recommend Petro to friends and family throughout the Philly area. Peter A. Elkins Park"

"My wife and I appreciated the time Wayne took explaining what needed to be done and answered all of our questions prior to and during the installation. He and his crew did an excellent job installing the 2 high efficiency HVAC systems. Both systems are running well. I thank Wayne for his ongoing dialogue during the installation which gave us confidence in the quality of his workmanship. Even though the systems installed were an upgrade the cost was less than all the other installers that gave us price quotes for the project."

"After interviewing four contractors and reading reviews on Home Advisor we decided upon Cesare from A&C Quality Air. Our project was to remove an oil boiler and replace it with a gas boiler. Hi price was VERY competitive. We were told that the project would take two (2) days for the removal and installation of the boiler. However, it took four (4) days. After providing Cesare with the necessary paperwork for the Town electrical and plumbing permits we were assured that he would take care of the processing of the paperwork. This was not to be the case. After numerous calls to Cesare and Town Hall we were told that the proper paperwork had not been filed and the work being done may make us, the homeowners, liable for a $2000.00 fine for each permit not filed before the work began. Needless to say, we were not happy. In working with the Town Hall we were able to avoid the fines and get the permit process on the fast track. To his credit, Cesare did help with fast tracking the permits as we had been without heat since before Christmas. As to the contract, the terms were as follows; One half due upon signing the contract, and one half due upon completion. After paying the first half, Cesare asked for two additional partial payments prior to the work being completed. We gave him a partial second payment but were reluctant to pay anymore since the contract did not call for it. The boiler has been making noise and Cesare said it was "water hammer" caused by faulty radiator valves or radiators not being pitched correctly. We have checked for both of these issues but that is not the case. The boiler is still making noise occasionally. He did come by once to check the noise but has not returned a recent text to check the issue. His crew was very professional in their craftsmanship and work ethic. We may recommend him to others."

"During the installation my wife had to run errand, plus make a slight diversion to the hardware store. Mo was nice enough to talk on the phone to the person in the store and explain in detail what part my wife needed for the installation. I would highly recommend the quality of his work, professionalism and patience."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

It takes about five to 10 minutes for heat to reach a radiator, then about one hour until the radiator fully heats up a room. The exact duration depends on the size of the room and how far away the radiator is from the boiler heating system. Heating up an entire house could take up to two hours.

Using heating oil to heat your home has its advantages, but it also has its disadvantages.

Consider these drawbacks before installing a heating oil system:

  • Heating oil prices fluctuate frequently

  • Risk of oil spills or leaks

  • Produces more air pollution and soot compared to a gas furnace

  • Regular maintenance required for equipment

  • Need to reorder heating oil consistently to avoid running out

While you’ll pay more upfront for a brand-new HVAC unit, you can save money in the long run. Here’s how to save on your new HVAC system:

  • When purchasing a high-efficiency system, your energy bills will be lower in the future.

  • You may be eligible for special offers from your local energy company.

  • Depending on the system, you may be eligible for HVAC rebates and tax credits.

  • Choose to replace your air conditioning unit and furnace simultaneously to save on labor and installation costs.

The radiators closest in proximity to the boiler heating system will heat up first. Radiators in rooms farther away from the boiler will take longer to heat up and may be the coolest rooms in the house. The radiator unit itself should heat up evenly; otherwise, there may be trapped air inside it.

Yes. Boilers need water to run without overheating, also known as dry firing. If you run it without a sufficient volume of water, either because of a burst pipe or a leak, you run the risk of damaging your machine or jeopardizing the safety of your home as a whole. When in doubt, shut off your boiler and repair any plumbing issues before turning it back on. Alternatively, consider installing a low-water cutoff (LWCO) before any issues arise. This gadget will protect your boiler by monitoring water levels and automatically shutting it off if it gets too low.
