"Sal and his crew are wonderful! They did a great job hanging ceiling fans, installing some light fixtures and kitchen faucet. They even made time to put together a dresser that was not planned..They showed up on time and I paid a more than fair price. Sal will definitely be my go-to for all future handyman needs. Thank you, Sal!"

"If you are looking for a top notch carpentry service qualified in all phases of construction, then we highly recommend Lindholm’s Carpentry and Home Repair, LLC in Rio Grande, NJ. We hired Scott Lindholm to build a deck with an integrated swim spa. Scott worked with us to develop a concept design, and then apply for township permits. Quality of materials and construction was always at the forefront of the project. The work was completed in record time, just under 3 weeks. Most importantly, Scott Lindholm worked hands on along side his construction crew every day. All were very respectful and accommodating to us and the neighbors. At the end of the day, we love the deck which incorporates nicely designed steps, an access door to the crawl space, railing and composite decking! Because the Lindholm team is in high demand, you may have to wait for availability. So, we recommend talking with Scott Lindholm early in your planning. You will be glad you hired the Lindholm team!"

"Brandon is the best handyman I have ever had come into my home. He was hired to unmount from the wall over my fireplace a 65-inch tv and mount a 77-inch tv in its place. In addition, he mounted my new American Flag and pole to my BRICK exterior. All requests were handled with professionalism and class. Excellent work!!! I'm in my seventies and am highly recommending him. You would be making a mistake if you didn't hire him!!!"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

Baking soda is an effective fire reduction method. However, flour and baking powder are very dangerous around flames. Flour is flammable and it can also conduct electricity. The combination can cause serious injury from electrical shock and worsen the situation by adding fuel to the fire. Baking powder is also not an option as it's also highly flammable.

Attics often contain a mix of insulation, electrical wiring, and other materials that can pose fire risks. That’s why furnaces should be installed in the attic with proper insulation and clearance from combustible materials. Additionally, the furnace should be equipped with proper ventilation and heat shields to prevent the buildup of excessive heat in the attic space. Regular inspections and maintenance are also crucial to identify and address any potential fire hazards.

You can install your own fire door, but since it’s a safety measure in your home (and often the only way to passively slow down a fire), you should rely on professional door installers. These contractors know exactly what to do and how to do it, and in our opinion, their costs are worth every penny.

You might be able to turn a normal door into a fire-rated door, but you’re better off purchasing one that meets all NFPA 80 standards. If you want to DIY a normal door into a fire door, you’ll need a self-adhesive intumescent seal, metal hinges, fire-resistant glazing, and a self-closing device, but you’re always better off buying a certified fire door.

As with any smoking appliance, a smoking oven is a concerning fire risk. It also negatively impacts your indoor air quality, which can put vulnerable people at risk of breathing problems. A dirty oven can catch fire if you don’t stay on top of regular maintenance, so remember to check your oven for signs that it’s time for a cleaning and remove buildup every three months to stay on the safe side.
