"They were in touch quickly, confirmed appointment time, and arrived within the window. Fireplace cleaning was done quickly and mostly without any evidence they'd been there. Did not inspect the chimney cap but told me from the ground that it would need to be replaced for an additional $350."

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

You can check your building’s interior for evidence of leaks and signs your flat roof needs to be replaced, but the best way to identify issues is to have a roof inspection done once a year. This can uncover small damages before they cause major water damage and lead to the need for roof replacement. Visual damages and tears are also signs you need to replace your flat roof.

This will depend on your existing roof to some degree, but it’s common to raise a roof 4 to 8 feet. The exact amount you can raise is subject to the existing structure. For most homes with average roof slopes—20 to 45 degrees—you can raise the roof around 5 feet.

Signs that you need a new shed roof include curling or buckling shingles, saggy or droopy spots, or plant life growing on your roof. Likewise, if you notice wet spots inside your shed after it rains or snows, you most likely have a leak problem that won’t go away on its own. It’s a good idea to replace your shed roof if it’s showing signs of wear before your entire shed becomes damaged.

You should not clean roof shingles if the roof has damage like missing shingles or low spots where water may accumulate. You should focus on repairing the roof before any cleaning process occurs. If you notice roof damage as you’re climbing on the roof to clean it, stop immediately. Call a roofing pro to make repairs. Cleaning a roof that has damage could lead to pooling water or water damage to the roof decking. The roof cleaning process removes mold and mildew, making the roof look better. It is not going to fix physical damage, though.

Common problems include loose or missing shingles, leaks, and weather damage. Regular inspections help prevent major repairs.
