Small jobs welcome

"Honest, reasonable and prompt. A wind storm blew pieces of my siding off. The owner, Angel, explained every part of the repair to me along with some options for how to fix it. He showed up the next day when he said he would and did a beautiful job. He did not pad the price because this was a “small job” or because I wanted it fixed right away to prevent further damage. He also did not try to talk me into more work than what I needed right now. I will absolutely be hiring them for future work on my home."

"Pete and his team were very professional throughout our kitchen remodeling project. Pete helped us pick out the cabinets, countertop, fixtures, flooring, and tile, and he made sure everything stayed within budget. He was accommodating to all our requests and concerns. Pete and his team arrived promptly every day of reno work, cleaned up all debris, and protected my house's furniture and new appliances from damage. Most importantly, he was always accessible, answering EVERY email, phone call, and text almost immediately. Renovation projects are stressful enough (we knocked down a wall into the dining room, resized a window and completed it with matching exterior vinyl siding and capping, replaced the floor and subfloor in 2 rooms, cut new trim, repaired drywall, changed the color and decor, added new plumbing, electricity and lights, and increased 7 feet of cabinet/countertop/backsplash space to 18 feet!), but Pete and the crew did their best to alleviate all our stress. The kitchen was totally transformed, and we and all our friends and family love the results. Very satisfied!"

"DLC Painting was excellent. We are very happy with the quality of work they performed. Their attention to detail was excellent. They made sure we were satisfied and did not hesitate to address any concerns we had. They kept the property clean and the crew couldnâ t be nicer. The customer service was so pleasant. We were so impressed we hired them back just a few weeks later for some interior painting we needed done. They did an excellent job inside as well. We will definitely be using them again! THANKS DLC"

"Everything went well with the inspection, but there was no "tune-up" (whatever this was supposed to be). Employee was on time, as well as called 1/2 hour ahead to advise of his arrival time. He was courteous and professional. I certainly hope that my sump pumps continue to operate for several more years, but I would not hesitate to call this company if there is a problem.

"From first contact to completion of the job Pete had great communication with us. He goes out of his way to make sure his clients are satisfied. He is a master of his trade. You can tell he loves his job. He is on time, professional and yet he is down to earth with a great "people personality". His painting made our home look brand new. All of this at a very reasonable price. Everything that MAP painting services did was 100% from start to clen up. He deserves 10 stars! I highly recommend you put MAP painters on your list. He strives for excellence and is a man of his word. We will not use anyone else."

"Satori did a fantastic job on my place! They painted every inch of it, and it has vaulted ceilings, all new flooring and baseboards, backsplash and painted cabinets, and put in a new vanity and toilet in my bathroom. They are a jack of all trades and I will most definitely be calling them in the future if I need anything done. It was done in a timely manner, very reasonably priced, and very professional. I highly recommend Satori!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Ultimately, overapplication of stain can compromise the deck's appearance, durability, and longevity. It may result in an uneven finish, with excess stain pooling, dripping, or drying into thick patches. It can also obscure the wood's natural grain and texture, detracting from the desired aesthetic. Moreover, excessive staining may not fully penetrate the wood, leading to poor adhesion and premature wear. Additionally, thick layers of stain are prone to peeling, cracking, and blistering as they struggle to bond with the surface.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

It’s important to make sure the wood on a new deck is properly seasoned. Seasoning a deck is simple: Once you build it (or have a pro do so), just leave it alone so it can acclimate to the environment. If you don’t give the deck proper seasoning time before staining, the stain can lock in any lingering moisture and cause mold, rot, and other moisture issues down the road. Give the wood at least four to eight weeks to season before you stain.

Painting a damaged pool deck is not recommended if the substrate is crumbling, cracking, spalling, or otherwise actively deteriorating. Continuing deterioration will result in the paint also delaminating or flaking off the damaged surface. Minor damage such as chips or hairline cracks that are not actively deteriorating can often be repaired enough to paint over. A damaged pool deck with a lot of cracking and deterioration should be replaced for best results.

You don’t necessarily have to remove all the old paint before repainting your deck, but it’s best to remove as much as possible to ensure a smooth and long-lasting finish. Prioritize scraping off loose, peeling, or flaking paint, and sand down rough areas to create a smooth surface for the new paint to bond with.
