"I can't say enough good things about Proficient Plumbing. This was a big job. They couldn't reach the pipe to replace it from the basement due to a bathroom bump out and had to excavate outside to be able to remove an old, rusted & broken cast iron pipe and replace it with PVC. Paul, Kyle, Tim, and Jose were amazing to work with. Apparently this problem was years in the making, and I'm so relieved that it's finally been resolved. I've hired them before and would definitely hire them again. They're true professionals, honest, and communicate in a way that's easy to understand. And Kristen kept me informed every step of the way and was such a pleasure to deal with."

"Mo is a very cool guy. Very polite. Great quality of work. Very knowledgeable about his field. Took his time to assess the problem and fixed the issue. He performed tests to ensure the problem was fixed or if there was any other issues that may need to be addressed now or in the future. It was a pleasant experience with him overall."

"Alec, thank you!!!!! These guys are the best. They come pretty quick, and are so professional. They laid covers down before coming into kitchen. Replaced my faucet in less than an hr. This is the second time I’ve used this company, and won’t use anyone else. Thank you again!!!!"

"Mike came very quickly, the same day I placed the request on Home Advisor. He replaced pipes and trap under my kitchen sink that were leaking due to improper installation and replaced an outdoor makeshift faucet with a frost-free heavy duty version. Also spent time discussing a couple of other projects to which he will provide estimates."

"I was very pleased with Absoluteâ s work on both jobs they did at my home. They clean up the area after doing the job and are very efficient from start to finish. They did mold remediation in my basement and then installed a French drain in my basement. I would recommend Absolute 110 percent!!"

"Great company to work with, from their initial contact to the plumbers who came out to the job being completed. The price was fair for the work we needed and Jose and his partner were professional, pleasant and fast! Would recommend."

"Silvino and his team did an awesome job in transforming our master bathroom. I was told that the job would be done in 3-4 weeks timeframe but they completely finished in about 2 weeks. The team was very professional, prompt and nice to work with. There was good coordination between the plumber, electrician, flooring, painter and shower door installation guy and there was no delay of any kind. The work performed was of high quality and were very reliable. I highly recommend their services for all your remodeling needs. The workers were on time and made sure everything was perfect and to our liking. I am very happy with the outcome and wouldn’t hesitate to hire the team for other remodeling work."

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

Because of the danger of inhaling asbestos fibers, figuring out through testing whether your popcorn ceiling contains asbestos is definitely worth it. If the popcorn ceiling texture has asbestos, remove it as soon as possible to keep your family safe. Any home built in or before the 1980s that has popcorn ceilings could have asbestos, necessitating testing. Asbestos carries several health risks for people who inhale it, including the increased chance of developing lung cancer in the future.

There are products that still contain asbestos, but they were typically installed decades ago. Common places where you may still find asbestos-containing materials are in siding, wrapped around ductwork, in older appliances (i.e., stove and gravity furnaces), and in floors. Asbestos was primarily used as an insulator, so anywhere in an older home where you lose heat is where you will most likely find asbestos.

Unfortunately, home inspections do not check for asbestos because of the liability factor involved. That’s why you should hire a trained professional with specialized equipment to test for it.

They will inspect all areas of the home and take samples of various materials to test. Opting for an asbestos inspection can prevent the risk of exposure to this hazardous material and save on costly repairs that may be required.

No, not all popcorn ceilings have asbestos, but a vast majority do. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned its use in 1973, although it still may have been used up through the early ‘90s. But, in general, homes built or remodeled before the early ‘80s likely utilized materials with asbestos. That being said, a professional test is the only way to determine for sure.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), you should contact the following officials to report a case of asbestos exposure:

  • Asbestos subject matter experts in your state

  • EPA regional office

  • Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Assistance Information Service Hotline via mail, email, or phone

  • EPA’s Asbestos Ombudsman via phone or fax
