"Exactly as expected. Gregory repaired both siding and gutter. After a heavy rain, the gutter repair has solved the problem. The trim repair matches well (white). This was a small job and I was pleased to have Gregory work it into his schedule. Both repairs required a 40' ladder as they were about 2 1/2 to 3 stories up. Given the work required and the height, I thought it was a fair price."

"We had 9 windows installed. Overall, the installation went well. Only issue was when the trim was re-installed, there were marks left on my freshly painted walls. I will have to go back and touch them up. For the painting, 2 bedrooms, hallway and stairwell were painted. Again, overall, it was done well; however, we had to repeatedly point out several spots that needed to be 're-prepped' and repainted. Hardwood flooring was installed in a bedroom and hallway. No issues at all with this. The floors look beautiful.
Millenium offers quality work at an affordable price. They are usually good in responding to any issues or questions. You just need to know that since they have different crews, you may not get the same guys for your project.
We have used Millenium for several projects over the past two years and will definitely use them again. No one contractor is perfect, but as long as the end of the project meets your expectations, that contractor deserves to be considered for future projects. Millenium meets this criteria.

"As we are in each bathroom now, months after completion, we can really see & experience the quality work performed.  When they first started each bathroom, we were given an estimate of completion that was more optimistic than actually turned out.  It was not really the fault of JGH but just that each job posed different obstacles.  I would say that the first job took an additional 2 weeks than expected.  But we figured this would be the case as nothing is ever easy when it comes to remodeling.
For example, in bath #1 we wanted the vanity mirror cabinet cut into the wall and it was not actually designed to do so.  Of course, this was a no problem attitude from JGH.  Once through the drywall they discovered another obstacle was in the way.  Again, not a problem, they moved the piping that was in the way and worked around it to get the mirror cabinet secured in.  They also had a creative way of making a border around the mirror using matching tile to the rest of the walls/shower.
We were also undecided on what grout color we wanted to do on the floor, hexagon marble, and on the wall with the white subway.  JGH were very helpful and patient as we figured this out.  There were plenty of things that we had NOT figured out before they started the job, and they were always pleasant and helpful as we made some of these decisions along the way (hardware, trim pieces, paint color, lighting, etc).
The only complaint that we had from the first bathroom was that the QuartzLock grout seemed to leave some light haze on the subway tile and required some elbow grease to get off.  It was not something that required removal with acid or anything...but it was definitely not the intended result.   JGH fixed this as well.   There was no such error on the second bathroom.
The second bathroom was executed really well.  It went faster than expected though again, not without some hiccups.  They did an awesome job bumping out the wall and getting us an extra 8" inches in the shower area that we did not know we could have.  It made a big difference as it was a very small master bath to begin with, and that really helped give it some more breathing room.  They also recommended a shower floor system for the penny tile that was installed.  All in all...everything is beautiful and we have no regrets about any part of the design.
JGHumphreys always conducted themselves with a high level of professionalism and we definitely appreciated it.
Overall we are very happy with the end result and would use them in the future."

"Eleil and his 2 man crew installed a new vinyl sheet kitchen floor. It looks great. He and his crew were very nice and got the job done quickly. I was in a hurry and he accommodated me and did it in less than a week since our first phone call. Very clean, efficient and I am glad i hired them."

"On both jobs, they were professional. Their workers cleaned up and did not leave any messes. They always arrived when they said they would. The façade work was effected by the weather and by the availability of the building inspector and Structural Engineer. They kept on schedule. The final bill matched the estimate.

Egress Windows questions, answered by experts

Egress windows are typically required for basements with habitable space or living quarters. Not all basements or lower levels require egress windows. However, egress windows are required in homes with living spaces such as bedrooms and living rooms in a basement. The International Residential Code and International Building Code require sleeping rooms to have a specific size egress window. Check your local building codes to confirm the requirements in your area.

The proper way to install a window well is to measure the window, dig a hole deeper and wider than the window, place a drainage tube and cap, anchor the well to the foundation, caulk the seam, and backfill the hole. The job requires tools such as a hammer drill and auger and some heavy digging. Proper placement and window well installation are critical to preventing water from leaking into the window.

You install a window well 8 to 12 inches deeper than the base of the window sill. After filling the well with drainage rock, the well should sit 3 inches below the bottom of the window. The top of the window well should also be at least 3 inches higher than the surface-grade ground. The window well should be about 6 inches wider than the window opening.

When you need new windows depends on a variety of factors, including the age of your windows, the age of your home, and the climate you live in. If you’re dealing with budget constraints, you don’t need to replace all your windows simultaneously.

When buying new windows, you should consider energy efficiency, safety, and aesthetics to choose the right window for you.

There are a range of egress window types available, including:

  • Single-hung: $100–$400

  • Double-hung: $250–$500

  • Horizontal/sliding: $150–$800

  • Casement: $200–$500

  • In-swing: $350–$700

When choosing a type of egress window, consider how you’d like to open it. For example, double-hung egress windows open from top to bottom and let plenty of fresh air in, whereas sliding windows slide open for easy access.
