"I am very satisfied with the work done in our home. Needed some switch replacements as well as capping off some exposed wiring. Current was timely, professional and reasonably priced."

"I connected with Bob on the phone immediately and did not hire 3 other pros who bid on the job. Bob was very competitive. The quote had to be revised after the fact and after hanging several fixtures however, Bob was very professional handling it and was a gentleman. I trusted both Bob and Chris alone in my home and felt very comfortable doing so. Bob, Chris and their team Rob A and Rob C were perfectionists and extremely competent. The team is very pleasant, professional and easy to work with. Bob and Chris are very reliable, warm and more than competent. Bob has been doing electrical work for 35 years and is up for any challenge. I would hire them in a heartbeat to do electrical work in my house and would highly recommend them!!!!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

It's less expensive to run power overhead because it doesn’t require excavation, and the power cables are less costly. However, underground electric service is better protected from weather and general wear and tear, so it’s less likely to get damaged. When determining which way to run power, consult a local electrician to get an expect opinion.

Some types of electric fireplaces use more electricity than others. Models that produce 1,500 watts will have more of an effect on your heating bill than 750-watt models.

Electric fireplaces use an average of $1.85 of electricity every eight hours. These minimal operational costs aren’t likely to make a big difference in your electric bill—unless you’re using it as a primary heating source for your home and it’s running most of the time.

No, a ceiling fan doesn’t have to be wired to a switch, but it’s often more convenient. You can use the included pull chain if your ceiling isn’t too high or install a remote module later, as they are a cheap, easy-to-install option that’ll let you control both the fan and light fixture.

Using a wire stripper/cutter, strip about 1/2 inch to 1 inch of sheathing from electric wires, depending on the application. A self-adjusting wire stripper/cutter works best, but a standard wire stripper/cutter with holes for different gauges of wire works as well to cut and strip away the sheath without damaging the copper wire inside.

An AC disconnect, also known as a switch box or fuse box, is a safety switch that allows the AC’s electrical supply to be turned off from the outside, usually done by a mechanical contractor coming to work on your unit. The box is protected from the weather by a cover or may be designed as a pull-out unit. Your local code determines where the AC disconnect must be mounted, but it's usually close to your outdoor AC unit.
