Customers say: Quick response

"There are so many good things to say about this company, from the initial consultation to the completion of the project. We selected then, after receiving four other estimates. Their pricing and services is what helped us in making our decision. Victor and his wife, Veronica handled everything. We had a complete bathroom gut and remodel. Their suggestions and patience were extremely helpful. The team was prompt and the work was impeccable. They were always available to answer our questions. They exceeded the completion date and finished before the projected end date, despite unexpected construction issues They left my house so clean. Their service is top notch, and we will be using them for future projects"

Warranties offered

"Jared did an amazing job on the railings by staining the wood and replacing the balusters. I was very indecisive about the color of the stain, I changed my mind in the middle of the project . Jared was very patient with me and accommodating. I would recommend Jared for any homeowner looking for a reliable, talented professional"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.

You should always hang drywall from the top down. Starting at the top makes it easier to create a straight, tight line between the ceiling and the wall. Any gaps that occur will be at the bottom, where they are easier to manage. You can either cut the bottom piece of drywall to fit the remaining space or cover the gap with baseboard trim. Additionally, starting at the top is physically easier, as you won't have to fit the top sheet into a tight space between the lower sheet and the ceiling, or try to balance the upper sheets on the lower ones while securing them.

Plaster is denser, harder, and more porous than drywall, so it absorbs moisture differently. This means you’ll often need more prep work, such as thorough sanding, patching, and priming with a high-quality bonding primer. Additionally, you may need more coats of paint to achieve even coverage. While the process takes more time, it helps ensure a durable and professional-looking result.

For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors.

You can put drywall mud over paint to even out the surface or entirely resurface it. Sand the surface with 280-grit sandpaper, vacuum the debris and dust with a shop vac, and clean it with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the surface to dry. Apply drywall primer, especially if you’re skim-coating an entire wall. Apply the right type of drywall mud over the surface and smooth it with a trowel. Allow the layer to cure fully, then sand it before applying another layer or painting it.
