New Hampshire's Radon Removal and Water Treatment Specialists! Radon in your homes' Air or Water can have serious health implications. It is the number 1 cause of lung cancer in non-smoking adults. Radon is odorless and tasteless. The only way to know if it is there, and how much, is to test for it. Aside from solving the radon problem in your air and water, we can also design and install a water treatment system to remove a host of minerals and impurities from your drinking water. We have the right water filtration systems to remove iron and hydrogen sulfide gas before it enters your home for domestic use. We install State of the Art Water Softeners that will remove soluble metals and reduce the hardness in your water, which will make your water appliances perform better and last longer.

"Although my relationship with ARM started a bit rocky, in the end I was very happy with the service provided. After a ARM technician replaced a fan, the noise level in the surrounding rooms increased to a point where I wondered if I could sell the house. I got the impression from the technician who installed the fan and was told by another company's technician there probably wasn't anything I could do. But, Mike G, from ARM, was able to lower the noise to a tolerable level by reducing the vibration from the attached pipe by making small adjustments including re-positioning the fan, removing old clamps and adding foam. He patiently answered all my questions and explained what he was doing throughout the diagnostic. Although the noise problem was resolved, the radon level was still 10.8 pCi/L so ARM returned (with the original technician and Keith to add a second suction point. . I was very happy with their work. The pipes were placed in a way that is an unobtrusive as possible, are securely fastened and as I learned, have the right pitch. Before the installation, Keith explained what they did to determine where they thought the suction point should be, and after must have been a long day for them, made me feel it was important that all my questions were answered. My radon level is now .6 pCi/L! My only complaint is that it takes a long time to get appointments and for two of the visits they were a few hours late.. The cost of service is for the 3 visits which were 11/9/18, 12/26/18, and 1/30/19 and includes the cost of the fan."

"Will Melendez visited our home and confirmed an independent lab finding of hard water. He listened to our concerns and outlined options to address them. Once we decided which option to pursue, he set a date for system installation and associated electrical work, which provided by an independent licensed electrician. Nick, the installer, arrived on time and worked a full day to implement the system. His work was neat and professional. I had 3 other contractors in - all of whom received good grades on Angies List - before selecting Culligan. They had the most competitive price and provided the most comprehensive solution."

FAQs for water softener service projects in Whitefield, NH

The license requirements for water softener installation depend on your location. Some municipalities require that the installer hold a plumbing license, some require a permit and an inspection, but no license for the installer, and some require a permit and a license for the installer. Regardless of the local laws in your area, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed plumber or installer. These pros will install your system properly and have the experience to size the system appropriately. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your installer’s license status.

Water softeners are worth the money if you live in an area with hard water. Hard water is safe to drink, but it poses serious threats to your plumbing system. The minerals in hard water will gradually build up on the inside walls of your pipes, reducing water flow to your fixtures. The minerals can also gradually corrode your plumbing system, reduce its lifespan, and increase the risk of leaks. Hard water also makes soap and detergent less effective. Water softener systems can solve all these issues, making them a great investment.

It’s possible to install a water softener yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Water softeners require working with copper pipes and electrical wiring, neither are suitable tasks for most DIYers. Plus, working with water and electricity together is dangerous and could pose a risk to your safety. Water softeners also need to be calibrated so that they don’t make your water too soft, as soft water poses just as many risks as hard water. Overall, it’s well worth hiring a local water softener installer to place your water softener system.

The cost to install a water softener system is $1,500 on average, ranging between $200 and $6,000. The labor for water softener work typically costs between $150 and $1,000, so you can add that to your equipment costs to get an accurate total. Your price will depend on many factors, including the following:

  • System capacity

  • Home size

  • Water hardness levels

  • Type of water softener

  • Presence of electricity in the installation area

  • Local permit costs

Your water softener size is based on your total household water consumption. In most cases, you can assume the average household member will use around 75 gallons per day. Multiply that by the number of people in your home, then multiply by 10 (for the typical grains per gallon). You’ll get a number in grains that should help roughly size your water softener. However, it’s best to hire a professional to install your system and use more exact numbers, like your exact average water consumption per day and starting water hardness.
