"Jacob arrived at my property right on time. He went over everything that was going to happen with me and made sure I fully understand it all. "Brian King came on a Saturday to give us an estimate. When we agreed on the scope and price he scheduled us for the following Wednesday and Thursday. We are very pleased with the work they did: trimming tops of trees and hemlocks, trimming under trees to lift them up, trimming and removing old shrubs and brush including stumps. They arrived on time, were courteous and cleaned up after they were down. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. If we ever need more tree work done we will give them a call."

Afterward, you can add charcoal bricks to the surface and light the fire, which must be attended at all times.

For a more affordable but much slower alternative, you can use potassium nitrate pellets to accelerate the natural decomposition process. This method typically takes four to six months.

Generally speaking, you’ll want to avoid flush cuts, which are cuts made as extremely close to the trunk or main branch. These cuts can weaken your tree, lower its natural defense mechanisms, and even cause decay. You’ll also want to avoid tree topping, which is the total removal of the leader and upper main branches of a tree.

Stay inside or well away until the storm passes. Don’t go outside to inspect the tree until the weather clears, especially if the tree is on a hill or isolated in a field. Lightning often strikes the same easily-accessed places multiple times, and you could be a new target. If a lightning strike causes a noticeable fire, alert emergency services. When the storm is over, take a closer look to gauge the damage done.
