"Ryan and his crew did a great job—got the job done— took our dead tree down expertly, just as we wanted— very efficient and professional. But he was also very amiable, easy to talk to and very “ in the know” about his job. We were very pleased with his work, and highly recommend his tree cutting company. We will definitely rehire him in the future."

"Needed to have 2 trees taken down in the yard; one very tall spruce and the other a half dead apple tree. Jessica was a delight to speak with when we called to set up the time. They are professional, safe and cleaned up after themselves. They performed the service that we requested in a short timeframe. What I would have thought would take a while to get done, they performed in less than 4 hours. The price for both trees was reasonable. I would highly recommend them."

Small jobs welcome

"Have worked with Ryan on several yard projects. He cut down trees, transported construction trash to dump, York raked yard, and moved a pile of sand to another location on our property. Very efficient and reliable service. Planning on having him do more work on future projects."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can prune a palm tree with a chainsaw, but a chainsaw is overkill for a job like this. You risk damaging the tree if you make a bad cut. More commonly, you’ll need pruning shears or a serrated knife to trim a palm tree, or you can use a specialized pruning saw instead of a chainsaw.

It’s possible, although a lot depends on the cause of damage and what steps you take. If the remaining parts of the maple tree are alive and not under attack by disease or pests, they can often be saved even if large portions of the maple tree have died. Frequent watering, careful pruning, mulch, and any recommended fungicides or insecticides can all help with survival.

No. Topping a tree refers to severely cutting down all its major branches and tree in a straight line. It was once recommended for streetside deciduous trees but has fallen out of practice. Topping leads to many problems, removing so much of the tree that many trees struggle to survive and become much more vulnerable to insects and diseases. Also, it doesn’t really help tree growth as once assumed and often leads to an ugly appearance of many sprouting stems in competition to become new main branches.

No, homeowners insurance typically does not cover the cost of removing a dead, sick, or rotting tree that is still standing. Insurance is designed to protect against sudden and unexpected accidents, whereas a tree dying or rotting over time is considered a maintenance issue. Coverage usually only applies after a tree has fallen and caused damage to your property.

Horticulturist is a broad term for any type of plant and soil expert. An arborist, meanwhile, specializes in all aspects of tree care. You should hire an arborist when you need assistance with tree-related tasks, such as pruning large trees, removing trees, diagnosing a sick tree, or emergency tree services. Horticulturists aren’t qualified to handle those types of tasks.
