"Frank did a great job on everything I wanted done. He repaired my shed, put up new outdoor lighting and also extra lighting in my basement. He also did a great job repairing the warped shelving under my sink. Frank did not loaf around. He continuously worked. I would certainly hire Frank again for any future repairs. I would recommend Frank for any of your projects."

"Workers very professional and clean up was great. Courteous knowing we were working from home and noise kept so low our callers didnâ t even know work was occurring in house. I must also say workers walking up and down stairs on hardwood steps, not heard! Great group and would hire again if needed, thank you!"

"I've come across some very unprofessional contractors. I would say 90% of the contractors I have dealt during the remodeling of my home never called back or looked at my job and never returned an estimate as promised. The good news? ALL PRO Waterproofing isn't one of those companies. They were AMAZING. They sent someone to give me an estimate immediately - they called quickly to conform the install and they always showed up on time and ready to go. ** I would have given them 5 stars, but I found the price a little too high - but other than that - if you need basement waterproofing done right, don't waste your time with anyone else and call A"

"We have an unfinished basement and anytime we had a heavy rain, water would come in through the bulkhead.  It never was on the stairs, was coming in from cracks in the foundation around the bulkhead.  Rick called me immediately after I submitted an estimate request on the website.  He knew we were anxious to get it resolved and he came right out to look at it.  Also had the "basement smell" down there and he explained due to cracks in the concrete floor, vapors were coming in.  Rick did an excellent job.  I waited until we had another heavy rain before I submited this review.  I'm thrilled to report there is no more water coming in and my basement actually smells nice now!

"I hired Twin State Basement Services to install perimeter drains in my basement after experiencing a water problem caused by hydraulic pressure under the floor. From the time I placed the phone call to the completion of the job it was clear to me that I was in excellent hands. I promptly received a call back within 24 hrs of it being placed. In all phases of the job from the size up and quote to the the completion of the job their work was beyond reproach. Refik and his crew were timely, efficient, courteous and professional. What impressed me the most was Refik's attention to detail and his personal commitment to "doing the job right". Nobody likes to have a water problem in their home but doing business with Twin State Basement Services made it much more palatable. This company was a great find for me. Highly recommend."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

The foundation repair that will work best varies based on the extent of the damage, the underlying cause, soil conditions, weather conditions, and more. Permanent foundation solutions like underpinning and exterior drainage solutions are better than temporary fixes that don’t address the source of the issue. Some examples of more temporary solutions include mudjacking or slabjacking, waterproof paint, and dampproofing. The best course of action is to have a reliable foundation specialist inspect your issue, treat the underlying problem, and restabilize your foundation.

The best ventilation for a crawl space is a fully encapsulated crawl space with its own separate ventilation system. If you go this route, ensure you have the proper crawl space code requirements done and dusted before encapsulating your crawl space with a moisture barrier and installing appliances that may not be up to the proper specs.

To ensure your basement walls are waterproof, it's crucial to address any existing moisture issues before finishing. Inspect for signs of water seepage, such as dampness or discoloration, and repair any leaks or cracks. Install a vapor barrier to prevent moisture from penetrating the walls, and consider waterproofing paints or coatings.

Proper drainage systems, such as interior or exterior waterproofing, can also be beneficial.

In most cases, it is safe to live in a home with minor foundation problems, but you should not let the issues persist. Virtually all foundations have small cracks from normal settlement, which are not a structural concern but should be sealed to prevent water intrusion. However, major damage—such as large structural cracks, sinking foundations, or bulging walls—can make a home unsafe. Other issues that can pose safety and health risks include poor indoor air quality from mold or pests, uneven floors, and rotten beams or joists. It is always best to have a foundation repair expert or structural engineer inspect any issues to determine if your home is safe to live in.

Whether to waterproof your basement from the interior or exterior depends on several factors, including your budget.

Exterior waterproofing is generally considered the superior method because it stops water at the source, preventing it from seeping into and damaging your basement walls. This approach offers the most protection, making it ideal if you use your basement for storage.

By contrast, interior waterproofing is often less expensive and requires less labor because the area is more accessible.

For maximum protection against water leakage and moisture, applying waterproofing measures to both the inside and outside is the best solution. However, if you must choose only one, stopping water from the outside is the most effective approach to preserve your foundation and prevent damage.
