"We needed five trees to be taken down and two stumps to be ground down. The team was considerate, efficient, and everything was done as promised and on time and at a fair price. We heartily recommend Kucharski Tree Care."

"Devine Lawns is the real deal. I was told by one of the largest home improvement stores that it would take three weeks to secure a delivery of topsoil. After two weeks they call to say that they would need more time and they would need to increase the previously quoted price because of COVID-19. Needless to say, I was frustrated. Dylan had a delivery of grade A topsoil for me in less than 48 hours! I could not have been pleased more. Not just because his pricing was much better, but rather, he and his team were professionals. I am definitely going to use their service again. It is without reservation that I recommend Devine Lawns."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Some fast-acting products can rot a tree stump in four to six weeks. Keep in mind, these products contain harsh chemicals that may prevent regrowth in the area. Other products, like fertilizer that contains lots of nitrogen, can enhance the process and rot a stump in about a year. (This is compared to the ten years it can take naturally for a stump to rot.)

If a tree stump is removed properly, the chances of a tree growing back are low. However, if a tree has a robust root system, roots can sometimes sprout and someday grow into a tree. The chance of regrowth will depend on several factors such as the type of tree, soil quality, and strength of the root system. In general, it is not recommended to plant a tree where a stump was removed.

Dead trees are dangerous for several reasons. They are structurally compromised and prone to branch or trunk failure, which can pose a significant safety risk to people, vehicles, and nearby structures. Dead trees can also harbor pests like termites, which may spread to other trees or your home. If a tree died from a disease, it could spread the illness to healthy trees. Additionally, the dry wood is highly flammable, increasing fire risk.

You should avoid cutting off the top of mature cherry trees. This process is called tree topping, and it’s not recommended for cherry trees—or any trees, for that matter. Tree topping removes between one-third to half of the length of the tree trunk, resulting in structurally unsound, fruitless suckers. The only exception is for saplings. Young pie, sour, and tart cherry trees that are over 30 inches tall in the fall or winter before the tree blooms can benefit from heading cuts.

You can use a felling ax to chop down a tree by following the same prep and steps as a chainsaw, but be prepared to use some muscle. For trees bigger than 7 inches in diameter, it can take some time and serious strength to cut down a tree using just an ax.
