"We had several large trees in our backyard that needed to be removed. Dylan’s price to do the work was on the low end of 4 bids, so we decided to take a chance though we knew nothing about them. No regrets whatsoever now that the job is done. Dylan & crew arrived per plan, stayed with it until done and cleaned up when finished, even some of the debris that was there before. This is dangerous work and a lot could go wrong. Nothing did - these guys know what they are doing. I would not hesitate to hire them again."

"Mr. Murphy showed up when promised and got right to work. He cleaned and flushed the gutters and used the blower to clean up anything that had fallen onto the deck and ground around the house. He pointed out one place the gutter that was very full and said the soffit vent was blocked. He said these should be addressed so as to not have mold grow. Mr. Murphy was polite and professional and I would hire him again."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The depth of tree roots depends on the species. Trees like oaks and maples can have root systems that grow down 20 feet or more. However, trees that grow in shallow soils will have roots that go only a few feet down. Research how your tree species grows in your climate area to estimate root depth.

You should plant trees at least 15 to 20 feet away from your house, and more if the tree will grow large and spread its limbs. Trees pose several dangers to houses when planted too close. They can litter the roof with leaves and branches, create fire hazards, make a ladder for larger pests, and even damage the foundation as their roots grow.

Many species, especially when well-established, are not fans of transplantation. You’ll need to decide if you want to risk splashing the cash, understanding that transplantation isn’t always successful. Again, this is where hiring a pro is helpful, as they can give you all the essential info you need to ensure your tree stands a fighting chance.

Bleach can potentially kill some types of delicate ornamental trees, but for the most part, it will only kill the foliage it comes in contact with. Applying bleach is not an effective method of killing a tree. A better option is to use an herbicide, which is a chemical compound designed to effectively kill a tree.

The best tools for tree removal include a chainsaw for large trees, an ax for notching and cutting down small trees, and a wedge to help control the direction a tree falls in. A hatchet can be useful for very small trees, but won’t be effective for medium to large trees.
