"I will never use another plumber. We contacted Robert Johnson plumbing at 1pm to have a hot water heater replaced. He came out, gave a us a quote, and completed the job same day. You won’t find a more honest and reliable plumber. I wish I’d found him years ago."

"Exchanged messages with Mike to describe work needed, replace an outdoor faucet and shutoff value (previous faucet was leaking). He gave an estimate, reviewed work to be done. Replaced outdoor spigot with a frost-proof spigot, put on new value. Quick test and validation. Professional, efficient and happy with work done! Thank you Mike !"

"Dustin was excellent. Showed up on time and was extremely professional. He fixed what was broken, hooked up what needed to be hooked up and got my kitchen and shower running beautifully. He didn't try to upsell or convince me to replace things that didn't need fixing or replacing. I have definitely found my new plumber! Would strongly recommend."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Delaying plumbing repairs in Exeter significantly increases your risk of burst pipes and severe water damage during harsh winter freezes. Postponing supply line replacements prolongs your exposure to naturally occurring arsenic or lead. Ignoring failing drain lines accelerates complete septic system failure. Unaddressed slow leaks cause permanent structural damage to historic wood-frame homes, ruining floor joists and original plaster walls.

Helpful?

Assess your property age and location before starting plumbing projects. If you own a pre-1970s historic home in Exeter, check for outdated lead supply pipes or cast iron drain lines. Properties with shallow pipes above the four-foot New Hampshire frost line require insulation upgrades. Inspect unheated basements and crawl spaces to determine if your home needs freeze-prevention upgrades before winter arrives.

Helpful?

After finishing plumbing work, schedule a final inspection to close out your town permits. For properties on private wells, test your water for coliform bacteria, arsenic, and radon. Verify that all new pipe runs have adequate insulation to withstand freezing Exeter winters. If you altered your drain load, arrange a follow-up inspection for your septic system to ensure everything functions perfectly.

Helpful?

Keep tools available to access your main water shut-off valve, which is critical for plumbing emergencies during freezing Seacoast NH winters. Maintain supplies to clear mineral sediment buildup from fixtures due to hard water. If you live near the Squamscott River, keep backup components ready for your sump pump. Prepare emergency supplies to respond immediately to burst pipes during cold snaps.

Helpful?

Assess your heating setup, as plumbing alterations near boilers directly impact hydronic baseboard distribution in older Exeter properties. Adding new fixtures increases water usage, requiring a septic capacity evaluation by state environmental specialists. Work involving your basement slab requires re-testing your radon mitigation system. Hire local professionals to coordinate well pump modifications with your home electrical system.
