"AWB rep. came to my home and explained everything in full detail about removing and installing the asphalt. He sent me a estimate in detail the next morning. I was very happy with with all the work that they where going do, and the price was very reasonable. AWB sent me a date for the following which was very quick. They showed up right on time in the morning, and did a fantastic job. The six man crew did everything I asked for. My driveway looks great! I recommend this company to anyone!"

"Chris did an excellent job! I got many different quotes through companies from Google and HomeAdvisor but felt Chris could do the job the best. He took out an old walkway, built a new walkway down a different area in my front yard then added a new retaining wall and granite steps from my driveway to my front door. He also put in a circle kit near my front door and put in a granite mailbox post. Everything came out perfect! Chris is a very hard worker, great communicator and I am very satisfied with the work he did. I would hire him again!"

"Although they were delayed by a day, I was notified appropriately. On the day of service, a large team of men arrived at 7 A.M. and immediately began to work, tearing up the old driveway with picks, sledgehammers, and heavy equipment which scooped up the asphalt. Despite a very hot day, the work proceeded at a furious pace, with only brief pauses when the whole crew rested for five minutes. All old asphalt was removed in large trucks. New gravel was trucked in and spread. Then the heavy equipment arrived: the asphalt-laying vehicle, large trucks full of hot asphalt, and two sizes of steamroller. Care was taken to slant every part of the pavement for optimal water drainage. Edges and corners were carefully beveled and compacted. Final cleanup was thorough. I was surprised when the entire project was completed in less than a day! We heard no foul language from the team, and they seemed to interact as old friends. All were polite to our family members. Sam Patterson, the owner, was easy to work with and made several constructive suggestions about the property."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

During an asphalt paving project in Dover, professionals closely evaluate several key areas. The driveway's approach and connection to the street are critical for proper drainage. High-traffic zones and parking areas receive special attention to ensure the base is prepared for heavy loads. Additionally, existing drainage patterns, underground utility locations, and the property's overall slope are assessed to prevent future issues.

Helpful?

The property's condition heavily influences asphalt paving decisions in Dover. Poor drainage requires enhanced base preparation and grading to handle heavy rainfall and snowmelt. The area's varied soil, from clay to ledge, dictates the necessary base depth and excavation methods. Existing infrastructure like septic systems and utilities must also be carefully integrated to ensure a durable and compliant final product.

Helpful?

After completing asphalt paving in Dover, avoid heavy traffic for 24-48 hours. A crucial first-year step is applying a sealcoat 6 to 12 months after installation to protect the surface. For long-term care, plan on resealing every 2-3 years due to harsh NH winters and performing annual crack sealing each spring to prevent water intrusion and freeze-thaw damage.

Helpful?

In Dover, NH, a seasonal routine is key for maintaining your asphalt. In spring, check for winter damage like cracks from freeze-thaw cycles. Summer is for inspecting the sealcoat's condition and any heat-related expansion cracks. Before winter arrives, use the fall to seal any cracks and ensure drainage systems are clear to prevent water from trapping and freezing, preserving your investment.

Helpful?

In a typical Dover, NH home, asphalt paving solves several key problems. It creates a durable surface that withstands the region's harsh freeze-thaw cycles and manages heavy snowmelt. Practically, it eliminates tracking mud indoors and provides safe, reliable vehicle access. A paved driveway also enhances curb appeal while reducing trip hazards for improved accessibility and overall property safety.
