"I recently hired Devin to reside my house and replace the front door, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, Devin was professional, reliable, and easy to work with. He clearly takes pride in his work—the attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the project. When replacing the front door, Devin discovered rot beneath the old frame. He took the time to properly address and repair all the issues around the door before installing the new one, and did an excellent job making sure everything was solid and well-sealed. The final result looks great and feels very secure. The new siding also came out fantastic and really improved the look of my home. Devin was flexible throughout the project and accommodating with any changes, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. If you’re looking for a contractor who does quality work and genuinely cares about the finished product, I highly recommend Devin."

"Painter was punctual, professional, and good.  Covered the counters and appliances in the kitchen and fully covered the carpet in the room he primed.  He sanded a patched area in the ceiling to finish the prep, even though that wasn't included as part of the big deal.  The room priming was extra, and he gave me a good price, and did a good job.

However, I asked for a quote for getting 4 other rooms painted, asking him to quote by individual room because I didn't think I'd be able to afford to get all the painting done at once.  The quote was a good price, but when I went to schedule the work a couple weeks after receiving the quote  I was told they wouldn't schedule with me unless I had all the rooms painted at once - that they were too busy with outside work.   I tried a couple times to have them honor their quote, but they stopped returning my emails.  Too bad - they're good painters and work for a fair price."

"In summary I have to say Richard was  excellent!  He came when he said he would and finished the work when he said it would be finished.  As I solicited multiple bids for the work NE Renovations was among the most competitive.  As the work was completed I was so pleased I ended requesting he come back to do additional jobs.  He was very accomadating and even explained various options on how best to accomplish the additional work.

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Most of the time, you’ll want to use screws on your subfloor rather than nails. Nails can actually weaken plywood, whereas screws can easily penetrate without damage. They also form a more secure connection because of their shape, preventing squeaky floors and tightly holding the subfloor in place. That said, some contractors do prefer nails depending on the type of floor covering because they allow for more flexibility.

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.

Traditionally, bungalows are single-story homes, although having a half or partial story on top of the first floor is common. While adding a second story to a bungalow is certainly possible, the home would no longer be considered a bungalow by the strictest definition.

Framing a basement takes three to five days, on average, when completed by a professional, though it may take longer for a larger space. Keep in mind this doesn’t include the time to complete the design, obtain permits, and install the drywall on the framing. On average, fully finishing a basement takes an average of 45 days.

You can enclose an open carport, however, there are several things to consider before opting to do so. You'll want to check local building codes and permit requirements before proceeding to make sure it’s legal. While you can sometimes stick-frame a carport enclosure, pre-fab kits are also available. Remember that you'll likely need to meet concrete slab regulations and provide lighting inside the structure. Both of which could substantially drive up costs.
