"We had several large trees in our backyard that needed to be removed. Dylan’s price to do the work was on the low end of 4 bids, so we decided to take a chance though we knew nothing about them. No regrets whatsoever now that the job is done. Dylan & crew arrived per plan, stayed with it until done and cleaned up when finished, even some of the debris that was there before. This is dangerous work and a lot could go wrong. Nothing did - these guys know what they are doing. I would not hesitate to hire them again."

"Ryan Sharp did an awesome job taking down some huge trees on my property. His pricing was competitive. He worked quickly and safely and was able to get the job done the right way. You can feel confident having him and his team knock down any trees that you need gone. Hire this guy."

"Tree Fellas are an excellent group of dedicated spirited workers. They work diligently and go above and beyond. They fully respect the property they work on. We had 18 trees taken down this time around and we will have them back next year without a doubt. The guys are friendly and extremely hard working. The clean up after the trees are taken down is something I've never imagined. They left our property the way it was prior to conducting the job. They've exceeded all our expectations. Thank you Tree Fellas for a job well done."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, most of the time you’re out of luck if a neighbor’s tree blocks your view. You don’t have a right to a view, so if you have a tree that’s near the property line but on your neighbor’s property, you can’t cut it to be able to take in a majestic mountain or a beautiful sunrise. In some communities, however, there are ordinances protecting scenic views. Checking into your local laws can help you determine your rights in this situation.

Tree roots are hearty and complex systems, so they don’t die immediately after the rest of the tree is removed. If you leave the root system in place, it takes anywhere from two to seven years for it to run out of nutrients. It is worth noting, however, that the roots stop growing and expanding after cutting down the rest of the tree.

Aside from removing dead or diseased branches, you should prune your trees somewhere between every one and three years. Some people—particularly commercial farmers—prune their apple trees yearly to produce higher yields. This is the best way to promote tree health. That said, the average homeowner can get away with hard-pruning their mature apple tree every other year or every three years.

Licensing requirements for arborists, also known as tree surgeons, vary by state and municipality. Many areas require a license, which often involves specialized education and experience. Even if not mandated, it's wise to hire a licensed professional as they tend to have more experience. Beyond licensing, look for certifications from organizations like the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) or the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA), as this indicates a higher level of expertise. Certified arborists must typically pass a comprehensive exam. Always confirm that the arborist has a business license and is fully insured to protect yourself from liability. Seeking positive recommendations from local homeowners is also a good step in finding a qualified professional.

A chainsaw is the best tool to cut down a tree, but you may also use a handsaw or ax. You may also want to use a lopper or pole saw to remove limbs before cutting down the tree. Wear chainsaw chaps and protective gear, including eyewear and earplugs if you use a chainsaw. Again, if you’re unsure about how to use this tool, this project may be one to skip.
