"We had several large trees in our backyard that needed to be removed. Dylan’s price to do the work was on the low end of 4 bids, so we decided to take a chance though we knew nothing about them. No regrets whatsoever now that the job is done. Dylan & crew arrived per plan, stayed with it until done and cleaned up when finished, even some of the debris that was there before. This is dangerous work and a lot could go wrong. Nothing did - these guys know what they are doing. I would not hesitate to hire them again."

"Tree Fellas are an excellent group of dedicated spirited workers. They work diligently and go above and beyond. They fully respect the property they work on. We had 18 trees taken down this time around and we will have them back next year without a doubt. The guys are friendly and extremely hard working. The clean up after the trees are taken down is something I've never imagined. They left our property the way it was prior to conducting the job. They've exceeded all our expectations. Thank you Tree Fellas for a job well done."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Leaving the tree stump and letting it rot is never a good idea, as this leads to insect infestations and other frustrations. Additionally, decomposing trunks are at risk for diseases that spread out to the remaining plants and trees in the yard, thus ruining your whole outdoor aesthetic. It's usually best to remove the stump at the same time you remove the tree.

Large, established tree branches won’t grow roots, but if you find a young tree branch that’s less than about a year old, you’ve got a shot. Put it in water or soil as soon as possible for best results. You’ll know the branch is viable if it’s about the thickness of a pencil and has some leaves or needles.

The best plan of action for an unhealthy or unsafe tree will depend on its condition. An arborist can recommend whether trimming or removal is the right call for your tree. Preventive tree trimming can keep trees safe and healthy, so make regular tree trimming a part of your yard maintenance plan.

The average lifespan of an oak tree is 100 to 300 years, so long as it isn’t impacted by diseases like sudden oak death. Some species will last shorter or longer, depending on where you live.

You will know that an oak tree needs to be removed when you see vertical cracks or dead branch stubs, which indicate internal decay. Other signs include trunk rot near the base of the tree and sprouts or small branches coming from the trunk.
