"In October of 2023 Contreras Concrete replaced our driveway. Emigdio was responsive and the driveway looked great when they were finished. In June of 2024, I contacted Emigdio about a hole that had appeared and some cracking at the end of the driveway. He came out and patched the hole. I contacted him again in September regarding the cracking. By March of the next year, the crack spread across the entire driveway and we noticed crumbling concrete where it met the garage. I tried contacting him again and never heard back. I would not recommend this contractor based on this."

Most exterior masonry work done in freezing temperatures tends to cost more because of the preparation and protection involved to keep the masonry from freezing before the mortar cures properly. The best tool for drilling into brick or mortar is a rotary hammer drill which is a large hammer drill with low rotation speed and high torque. It can lead to significant issues, such as damaging the brick or affecting the wall’s structural integrity. Applying too much force can crack or chip the brick, while incorrect placement might compromise its load-bearing strength. 

Masonry work tends to be more expensive because the materials can be costly, such as natural stone and brick. Masonry is also very labor intensive, typically making up 50% or more of the final project cost. In addition, quality masonry work requires years of training and experience, as with any skilled trade.
