"Customer service was excellent. I was satisfied with the end result, which entailed the removal of four shrubs and would consider the contractor for additional projects that are within their areas of expertise."

"We hired Alden Parks for a paver patio in our backyard. Due to the grade of our yard, some retaining blocks and small retaining wall was also necessary. The employees of Alden Parks far surpassed my expectations. These were some of the hardest working guys I ve ever seen. The owner, Greg, was so kind and very responsive to all our questions during the entire process. The patio turned out beautiful, and they completed ahead of schedule. I highly recommended to anyone looking for retaining walls or a paved patio. It was a great experience!"

"It’s hard to find contractors today that still believe in excellent customer service all the way from the upfront sales process to the last hour of the job done, and after the fact if needed. This company does all that it commits to and more. Every team member is a pleasure to work with from the idea stage of your project through completion. The end result far exceeded all expectations. I highly recommend them for any project!"

"Responded promptly when contacted. Received quote in a very quick manner. Very good value for work done. They are very professional & conscientious about work & do a very good job. Hired for complete summer. Would definitely hire for any future lawn service. Only concern is a few of projects haven't started yet, however I must admit that company is doing a lot of yard services."

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.

A 500-square-foot driveway can cost anywhere from $5,000 to $35,000, depending on the type of pavers you choose. Grass and concrete pavers are more affordable, while stone and cobblestone pavers are on the higher end of that price range. You’ll save some money by DIYing the installation, though we highly recommend sticking with a professional for this type of driveway installation.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.

It takes recycled asphalt 48 hours to initially harden and up to 3 months to fully cure. It’s best to stay off of recycled asphalt for at least 48 hours, then you can walk or drive standard vehicles on it. Hold off on driving heavy trucks or equipment on it for at least 7 days. Allowing the surface to melt together and harden ensures that the surface stays durable and long-lasting.

While blacktop is a type of asphalt, the terms should not be used interchangeably, as not all asphalt qualifies as blacktop. The primary differences are in their composition, production process, and ideal applications. Blacktop contains more stone than other types of asphalt and is heated to a higher temperature during production—300°F or more—while hot-mix asphalt is heated to between 275°F and 300°F. The ratio of bitumen (a tar-like crude oil) is a key differentiator, though sources vary: some state blacktop has less bitumen, making it less durable, while others claim it has a higher ratio. Due to these differences, asphalt is generally more durable and better for high-traffic areas like highways and streets, while blacktop is more suitable for playgrounds and residential driveways. For a driveway project, it is best to consult a professional to determine the most appropriate material.
