"We hired Alden Parks for a paver patio in our backyard. Due to the grade of our yard, some retaining blocks and small retaining wall was also necessary. The employees of Alden Parks far surpassed my expectations. These were some of the hardest working guys I ve ever seen. The owner, Greg, was so kind and very responsive to all our questions during the entire process. The patio turned out beautiful, and they completed ahead of schedule. "Responded promptly when contacted. Received quote in a very quick manner. Very good value for work done. They are very professional & conscientious about work & do a very good job. Hired for complete summer. Would definitely hire for any future lawn service. An asphalt driveway should be at least 3 inches thick over a compacted gravel base. Areas with poor drainage should have a thicker stone base. To install a new asphalt driveway over an existing driveway, the new asphalt should be at least 2 inches thick and the existing driveway should be in relatively good condition.

Driveways should be sloped with a minimum 2% slope—anything lower will cause precipitation and runoff to collect. A 2% slope is the equivalent of a 2-foot rise over 100 feet. One quick way to check the integrity of your driveway’s slope: no more than four inches of water should collect on the surface longer than 15 minutes after rain.

The most common causes of sunken pavers are poor base preparation and insufficient compaction. The problem could also be how your pavers were installed. If the soil beneath your patio or walkway wasn't compacted, it will pull pavers down as it settles. Additionally, using bare soil instead of making a paver bed with compacted gravel and sand can cause sinking over time. To fix sunken pavers, consider recompacting the base and addressing any drainage or erosion issues in the area.

If you're designing a new patio in an area with poor drainage, permeable pavers made from porous materials may help prevent water issues. Most permeable pavers feature a gravel-only aggregate base instead of a concrete base to allow water to flow through instead of getting trapped. While beneficial in some cases, permeable pavers come with higher initial costs and greater load-bearing limitations compared to traditional pavers.
