"We hired Alden Parks for a paver patio in our backyard. Due to the grade of our yard, some retaining blocks and small retaining wall was also necessary. The employees of Alden Parks far surpassed my expectations. These were some of the hardest working guys I ve ever seen. The ideal distance between stepping stones depends on your design preference. A general rule is to place them about 24 inches apart from center to center to match an average person's stride. Another common approach is to leave about 6 inches of space between the edges of each stone; this can be adjusted to fit the path's total length without cutting pavers. If you plan to plant between the stones, leave at least 6 to 8 inches of space to give the plants room to grow.

If your driveway is cracked, you can repave it with a process called asphalt overlay. Overlay is more cost-effective than a full replacement but is better suited for minor cracks and issues. If you have major cracks or other problems like water pooling, asphalt overlay isn’t your best bet. Plus, paving over a cracked driveway only extends the lifetime by about 10 years, whereas replacing it would start the clock over completely to give you up to 30 years.

You can pour concrete over asphalt if it’s in good condition, thick, stable, and well-compacted. Concrete is more durable than asphalt and can extend the lifetime of your driveway without having to pay frequent asphalt driveway repair costs or replace it completely. 

But this is best reserved as a temporary solution based on budget restraints, as asphalt requires more frequent repairs and assessments than concrete. Once that concrete top is poured, it’ll be harder to accurately understand what’s happening beneath that layer, which could lead to more issues.

Grass pavers are suitable for heavy foot or vehicle traffic, but they’re not as resistant as concrete or asphalt pavers.

You’ll first need to install a base underneath your pavers for extra stability and drainage. Otherwise, the pavers can sink into the ground, and you’ll have to reinstall them. Use a base gravel layer of 4 to 6 inches for walkways and 10 to 12 inches for driveways. Compact your gravel layer every 2 to 4 inches so it’s nice and solid. After you install your gravel base, apply a 1-inch layer of sand on top.
