"Ever since we moved into our newly built home 8 or so years ago, we needed help with the original installation of sod, the fence for our dogs, the automated sprinkler system, etc. Accelerated Green Works (AGW) has always been the team we’ve trusted for all of this work. Usually, I do my own snow shoveling, but, periodically when I’m out of town, a blizzard pops up and my wife needs to teach elementary school in the morning. The latest episode of snow storms this past week occurred while I was out of town. I arranged with AGW to plow / shovel early in the morning for my wife to get out, but school was promptly cancelled. Therefore, I scheduled AGW to shovel later that night once the snow / wind stopped and my wife would need to get out to drive me home from the airport. The AGW team worked with me every step of the way to get the job done right. I’m sure they can’t always schedule these jobs as perfectly as they did for me that day/night, but they definitely did a fantastic job coordinating with me and accommodating my every need. Excellent work. The scheduling was perfect. The plowing / shoveling of my driveway and sidewalks was professionally done with good communication with me to ensure we were both on the same page. It takes anywhere from three to seven years for a stump to decompose on its own. This timeframe can depend on the kind of tree and your climate. The lower to the ground the stump is, the faster it rots. If you kill a tree stump with salt, boiling water, herbicide, light deprivation, or burning, the tree stump decomposes faster.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

Poison oak is similar to poison ivy in that it's in the same family of plants. Poison oak is identifiable by its rounded-off leaves and hairy leaf texture. Tree-climbing varieties live primarily in western states while low-growing poison oak bushes occupy the eastern states. Treat poison oak like poison ivy to get rid of it permanently.

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but we don’t recommend it. If the tree is short enough to easily reach the top branches, and the tree is far from power lines or structures, consider renting a chainsaw and removing it yourself. Trees that are larger than that, close to electrical lines, or close to fences, homes, sheds, or other structures should only ever be removed by professionals. Not only is the work dangerous, but you could damage structures on your property in the process.

If tree branches cross well into your property line, in many cases, these branches become part of your property, and you can trim them up until your neighbor’s property line. However, this issue will vary based on local ordinances, so you should do your research before making any decisions. Better yet, speak with your neighbor about how to handle any tree issues. 

If you don’t mind the branches, you can leave them be, but if they’re becoming a hazard, it’s definitely worth having a conversation.
