Lost Lake Construction is a veteran-owned company based in northern Minnesota. I'm Dave Berry — I've spent 20+ years in the trades and run a crew of four, so we handle everything from a single afternoon's work to a full-scale build.\nBig job or small, we do it: junk removal and hauling, landscaping and yard cleanup, brush clearing, kitchen and bath remodels, basement finishing, decks, siding, roofing, concrete, painting, and general handyman work. We also specialize in custom fine finish carpentry, log construction, and standing seam metal roofing — the kind of work most crews around here won't take on.\nI'm a licensed Minnesota Residential Building Contractor (BC809295) and fully insured. You'll deal with me directly, not a call center. Free estimates, straight pricing, and a clean job site when we leave.\nGive me a call and let's talk about what you need done.

"Quick to respond initially, but the day of service was delayed because of mud - not their fault and I understood, but my texts to ask for updated ETAs would have been nice - again though, maybe was hard for them to gauge. Once at the job, they were thorough, quick, great to talk to and understand what they were doing and didn't mind me asking questions and pointing out things to make sure it was done (lots of root removal!) They did a great job cleaning up when they were done. I would hire them again for sure."

"Very reasonably priced. Professional, Knowledgeable timely, well prepared with equipment including lift, climbing tools, chainsaws, stump grinders, etc. Provided education on me for how to prune my own trees properly, what to what pests to watch for and how soon a tree is safe to prune .etc. Provided significant tree trimming of a well-established Oak tree in my front yard. also did trimming of many branches that have interfered with my 6-year-old new trees. were able to drop a huge branch from an old tree without hitting 2 newer trees. CLEANED up everything so my yard looks undisturbed today 1 day post removal. Pleased and would highly recommend!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

In Fargo, you can safely prune small, low branches using clean, sharp tools and apply mulch to retain moisture around trees. Water deeply during dry spells and inspect for early signs of pests like emerald ash borer. Always stay on the ground and avoid working near power lines or during icy conditions. For larger limbs, structural concerns, or disease symptoms, contact a local tree removal or pruning expert.

Helpful?

In Fargo, signs that previous tree service may need redoing include jagged or uneven pruning cuts, branches regrowing in awkward directions, and visible decay or fungus at old cut sites. If you notice trees leaning more after heavy winds, roots exposed by shifting clay soil, or persistent deadwood despite past work, it’s wise to schedule a tree health assessment and consider corrective pruning or removal.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Fargo should begin with a professional tree health assessment to spot hazards unique to the region’s harsh winters. Prioritize removing weak or storm-damaged trees, pruning for strong branch structure, and addressing compacted clay soil around roots. Planting cold-hardy species like bur oak or black hills spruce and installing windbreaks can help protect your property from ND’s extreme weather and improve long-term tree health.

Helpful?

Completing tree service in Fargo offers immediate benefits like improved safety, reduced storm damage risk, and enhanced curb appeal. Over time, healthy trees increase property value, provide energy savings by acting as windbreaks, and support local wildlife. Regular pruning and tree health assessments also help prevent pest infestations and soil erosion, ensuring your landscape remains resilient and attractive for years in ND’s challenging climate.

Helpful?

In Fargo, tree service projects can involve unexpected expenses due to frozen ground requiring specialized equipment, extra labor for stump grinding in dense clay soil, or the need for property line surveys when working with boundary trees. Additional costs may arise if tree removal near power lines requires utility coordination or if storm debris cleanup is more extensive than anticipated due to tight lot access or drainage issues.
