"High Point Plumbing did a wonderful job installing a new water main for me. They were timely and very cost effective for me. I priced the project with another company for the exact same materials and job, and High Point Plumbing had a much better rate. The HomeAdvisor process was simple and easy to use. I posted the job on a Firday night around 730-8pm and James called me within 15 minutes. He gave me pricing estimates on the phone and then scheduled a time on that Monday to come and firm everything up. He then completed most of the job on the next Friday in one day. He had to come back today to add the shut off valve and adjust the pressure. He is very professional and very explanatory of everything he is doing. I will be calling him in the future for any other plumbing needs for my family."

"A representative for Benjamin Franklin Plumbing of Kernersville called me around 10:00 am and indicated he had a plumber in the area who would be able to come to my home within 1 1/2 hours. I had a 36 year old natural gas hot water heater that had begun to leak. I knew it needed to be replaced, and an expansion tank needed to be installed. Sebastian arrived around 11:00 AM, reviewed the heater, and provided pricing options. I asked when he could get to the job and he indicated he could do the job that afternoon, he just needed to go get the materials. The installation was quick and done very well. The original flue and gas lines were used, and new inlet and outlet pipes were installed. The job was completed and Sebastian was leaving my property by 3:30 PM."

"Gerardo with G & E Plumbing LLC did an outstanding job on our shower replacement. From start to finish, he was professional, reliable, and paid close attention to every detail. The quality of the work exceeded our expectations, and the finished shower looks amazing. He showed up on time, communicated clearly throughout the process, and made sure everything was done right. It?s hard to find someone who takes this much pride in their work these days. I highly recommend Gerardo and G & E Plumbing LLC to anyone looking for honest, skilled, and dependable plumbing work. We?ll definitely be using them again for future projects!"

"Fabulous products, service, knowledge & skills! We had a walk-in bathtub removed and replaced along with 96" worth of ugly tile on walls. Our new 2nd bath is beautiful. We chose white tub & white subway tiles and polished nickel fixtures. The team did a fabulous job replumbing (they found problems with old plumbing and fixed it properly), removed the beastly tub without splitting in two parts, meticulously placed plumbing, tile backs, and tub in and installed new fixtures. They jumped through hoops to locate polished nickel products to include the shower rod. We also had them finish the plumbing in our unfinished 3rd bathroom and the install a 32" corner shower. Whew...it's a small bathroom so we talked with the crew chief doing the work (he's SOOOOO knowledgeable and just a great guy!) and he gave us suggestions regarding sink and toilet. It's a tiny bath so we greatly appreciated Westshore stepping up and going above and beyond to do the work in our home. We get rave reviews on how well these bathrooms look and it shows! Just beautiful! Price was right on point considering they went above and beyond and followed up."

"HousePro was an excellent choice to do our bathroom remodel! Greg responded to my phone call within 24 hours and delivered a detailed quote and answered all my questions. Jonathan followed up quickly once we decided to use his team. He was very helpful in helping me find and decide upon the products I would need. He always responded within a day to phone calls, emails and texts. John and Cory were on time each morning and explained to me what was to happen that day. They always told me when they would be returning and what they were going to do. Jonathan, John and Cory all did excellent work and our master bathroom turned out above and beyond our expectations! We will use them again in the future to remodel another bathroom!"

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Depending on the location of the water leak, it could go undetected for weeks, months, or even years in some extreme cases. Most homeowners who have plumbing leaks have slow drips, so you might not see signs of damage until they become severe problems. It’s a good idea to have a plumbing inspection done annually and to take steps yourself to check for leaks, including inspecting your floor, walls, and ceilings for signs of water damage, monitoring your utility bills, and looking for water around appliances and fixtures.

In the United States, a depth of 36 inches (three feet) for underground water lines is the accepted industry standard. This depth varies from location to location based on local conditions. In areas with colder winters, they may be buried deeper to prevent frozen well water pipes : This is usually at least six inches below the frost level. The International Plumbing Code calls for a minimum of 12 inches below grade.

Schrader valves are also commonly known as American valves or simply car valves since they're often used in tires for bicycles and motor vehicles. The valve gets its name from the company that created it, the Schrader company, following its invention in 1891. It was later patented in the U.S. in 1893.

While some chemical drain cleaners with hydrochloric acid can dissolve hair, this method is not recommended as it can also destroy your plumbing pipes. A common DIY alternative is using baking soda and vinegar, which can help break down the clog but will not actually dissolve the hair. The best and safest method for clearing a hair clog is to remove it manually. You can use a drain snake, a straightened wire hanger with pliers to fish out the clog, or have a plumber use a professional auger for more severe blockages.

First, check that you have cut off the water supply to your toilet. This is a project that can only be done safely if running water cannot reach your toilet fixture. If you're seeing water trickle out after you've confirmed that the water supply is shut off, you can probably rest assured that what you're seeing isn't a problem. It's common for leftover water to spill out when you're removing your toilet's fill valve. If something goes wrong while you're working on your toilet, you'll need to look at your home's policy to see if your homeowner insurance covers water damage.
