"Zack Mitchell, Nyles and David did a good job installing push piers along one side of my house. Before the work, the foundation wall was out of plumb by an inch. Afterwards one part of the wall was plumb while another section was only approximately 3/8" out of plumb. Overall, I'm happy. I have piece of mind this portion of the footing/foundation wall is stabilized. If there are any problems I know Tar Heel will comeback out to make any adjustments."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Upgrading your plumbing directly enhances your daily comfort and protects your home. In Washington's humid climate, prompt repairs eliminate moisture sources that fuel mold growth. Replacing aging pipes improves water pressure and reduces rust from local water sediment. For homes in flood zones, adding backflow prevention stops sewage intrusion during severe storms. Address these updates promptly to ensure your home remains safe, dry, and comfortable year-round.

Helpful?

Delaying plumbing repairs creates severe structural and health hazards. In Washington's humid climate, a minor leak triggers rapid mold growth and rots wooden crawl space foundations. Postponing updates to aging sewer lines increases your risk of sewage backups during heavy storms. Furthermore, ignored leaks cause water bills to spike and damage irreplaceable historic building materials. Hire a professional to resolve these issues before they escalate.

Helpful?

Your home is a prime candidate for a plumbing assessment if it was built before 1980, as older pipes deteriorate over time. Look for low water pressure, rust-colored water, or sulfur odors at the tap. Properties located in NC flood zones or those with a history of wet crawl spaces also need immediate evaluation. Schedule an inspection to identify hidden corrosion and properly upgrade your system.

Helpful?

Watch out for contractors who cannot provide a valid state license, as unlicensed plumbing work is illegal in NC and voids insurance claims. Be cautious if a professional suggests skipping the permit process to save time. Furthermore, quotes must account for flood zone requirements and the potential discovery of older pipe materials. Always hire local professionals who understand the specific utility layouts and codes required in Washington.

Helpful?

Several areas in your Washington home require regular plumbing attention. Crawl space pipes suffer from accelerated corrosion due to high humidity. Aging sewer lateral lines frequently experience tree root intrusion and cracking. Additionally, sediment from local water shortens the lifespan of water heaters. Inspect outdoor hose bibs for freeze damage, and check toilet seals, which degrade rapidly in damp environments. Address these vulnerable spots to prevent extensive damage.
