After working over twenty five years in the trades; having my work featured in Better Homes and Gardens , Dasign Times Magazine and awards in the Raleigh Home Show . I have found that there is no replacement for individual attention to both my clients needs and the detail craftsmanship to complete a project . Therefore taking the time to meet your home remodeling needs and provide a superior product is the mission. Betts Designs LLC is my company I am your professional Artisan, Designer, and Craftsman with a desire to bring your ideas and dreams to reality .

"Initial caulking work was performed well. After 2.5 years, some of the caulking failed. When I requested Aaron to evaluate the problem, I was told there would be a $150 consultation fee for the review. His contention is that caulking that fails after 2.5 is within normal tolerances. I do not agree, but was willing to have him review and explain, without a fee. He would not provide the review. "

Architects questions, answered by experts

Start by researching local contractors with experience in cottage construction. Ask for references, check licensing and insurance, and review completed projects. Compare multiple bids, making sure each includes the same scope of work. A good contractor will communicate clearly, provide a detailed contract, and ensure all work meets code and safety standards.

Designing a building takes 2-6 months, depending on project size, required permits, and revisions.

The essential difference between an architect and an engineer is that architects typically focus more on the aesthetic design of buildings, although not without consideration for the structural integrity of the building. Engineers focus more on the structural, technical, and practical aspects of whether and how an architectural design can be built as drawn. You may need to hire both types of professionals if you’re designing and building a new home.

In most cases, yes, hiring a draftsperson will be more affordable than the cost of hiring an architect. However, it’s important to note that the reason is because these professionals provide different services. Draftspersons are more affordable because they do more general mock-ups that help align your contractors with your vision for your home renovation project. An architect will provide more detailed drawings that include technical specifications, structural considerations, and even mechanical components, like electrical box and HVAC ductwork placement.

Aging-in-place universal design features can make your home more comfortable for family members who are older or have disabilities; they can also make your home safer. In addition, adding a universal-design bathroom can boost your home’s overall resale value.
