"Nicolas and his team did many times more than we expected. We needed French drains all around the house - metal roof, no gutters - plus hardscaping entryway beds and grading and drainage in a sloped gravel driveway that needs repair about every four years. In two days Nicolas completed everything. He regraded and sloped the driveway, installing two French drains we hadn't even talked about to redirect the water. This is the second project we've gotten him to do for us. The good news: you'll get great work if you hire him. The bad news: he is so good you'll have to wait. The word is out - he's booked months ahead. If you have a project you want done right and you can wait a bit, call Nicolas."

"

Our entire experience with Hutchins Landscaping was outstanding.  Jon Hutchins is very professional and knowledgeable.  I initially contacted him by phone and left a message.  He promptly returned my call and answered all of my questions about the installation of sod.  He said that he would be happy to come to my house and look at our yard and provide us with an estimate.  Shortly, there after he came to our house and spent a lot of time looking at the yard, listening to what I wanted, and explaining how he would do the job.  He also suggested a wonderful idea of making a flower bed near an existing group of trees.  It was a super idea and we did ultimately did go forward with his suggestion.  What I liked about our first meeting is that Jon was able to give us an estimate right on the spot.  He carefully measured the area, took notes and within 10 minutes gave us a dollar amount.  I was very impressed with his quote, because I had contacted another company and they were more expensive and didn't even take the time to measure the area.  The estimator, basically just " eye-balled"  where I wanted the lawn and came up with a price.

On the day of the install, Jon and his crew arrived right on time and were very courteous.  Before beginning the work, Jon once again went over the steps of the installation.  When the job was done his crew did a great job in cleaning up the driveway; there was not a speck of soil or mulch.  It actually looked cleaner then before starting the job!!

I know this is a long review, but I can't express enough how pleased my husband and I are that we chose Hutchins Landscape.  You will not be disappointed.

"I hired Evans Landwork to repair the drainage issues on my gravel driveway, and the results were outstanding. He quickly identified the underlying problems, explained the plan clearly, and got to work with real precision. The grading, reshaping, and drainage improvements were done with obvious skill — water now flows exactly where it should, and the driveway looks better than it has in years. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and pride in his work truly set him apart. If you need reliable, high‑quality driveway or drainage repair, I highly recommend Evans Landwork."

"I needed to replace my 85 foot-long driveway. A loblolly pine was situated beside the driveway, easily as old as my 1961-built house (who in their right mind plants pine trees right next to driveways?), and the roots were pushing and cracking the concrete, creating a large bump which made driving on it quite annoying. I also wanted to replace the 3'x3' concrete pad at the back door of the house with a larger stamped concrete patio and replace the front walk and porch. A big job for one house. Bill came to provide an estimate, and I found him to be friendly and knowledgeable. He didn't talk down to me (as a woman, this is very important, and I've made it a point to not hire folks for talking down to me). His price was fair, and he itemized each project in detail in the estimate. I had the tree beside the driveway cut down, and the stump ground down as much as possible. There were still a lot of roots below the old driveway, and Bill's crew did a great job of getting them removed once the old driveway was demolished. Bill kept me updated throughout the entire process and didn't mind me asking silly questions. I absolutely love the new patio, and I'm thrilled that I now have a driveway that I don't have to "4-wheel" it over!"

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

It’s best to weigh the pros and cons of each material and decide on your priorities for your driveway. Gravel won’t be an appropriate choice if your driveway experiences heavy traffic. You’ll find that you need to level and top it off regularly, which could make the material a much more expensive option.

Asphalt is not a type of concrete. While both are a common type of pavement, asphalt is composed of aggregates (like sand and gravel) and bitumen; concrete is a mixture of cement, aggregates, and water. Here are some of the key differences between asphalt and concrete driveways.

You should contact your driveway installer before winterizing a newly installed driveway. Winterizing it before the asphalt or concrete has fully cured can damage the driveway. But in many cases, you don't need to winterize a newly installed driveway anyway since it's likely freshly sealed and won't have much damage yet.

With proper maintenance, asphalt milling driveways can last 30 years or more. Over time, you’ll need to regularly sealcoat your driveway. You should also have your driveway inspected every few years and make any repairs as soon as they are necessary; this will prolong the lifespan of your driveway.

Even with regular maintenance, most driveways don’t last much longer than 30 years. Alligator cracking is a clear warning sign that your driveway’s foundation is failing, and cracks that are deep and wide can let water in, causing more damage. Standing water is another red flag. If your driveway doesn’t drain properly, it’s going to degrade slowly. Finally, if you’re seeing dips or uneven patches, that’s a sign the base layer or soil is shifting. If these issues pop up, it’s time to replace your driveway.
