"My husband and I had the pleasure of having Earl Vereen and his team in our home to install a bathtub to replace our standing shower. His professionalism, his work, and their cleanliness was exceptional. Those guys were like stealth moving in and out, sometimes I forgot that they were working in the bathroom. We are excited about our bathtub and thinks that 24-48 hrs wait time is such a long time to finally enjoy this well deserved bathtub:) We love it! Thank you."

"We hired Xterra to remodel our bathroom, including a new shower, vanity, flooring, and fixtures. The project was in the $11,000?$13,000 range, and the results exceeded our expectations. The team was professional, easy to work with, and paid close attention to detail. The bathroom looks amazing, and we couldn?t be happier with the finished product. Highly recommend Xterra for any bathroom renovation."

Small jobs welcome

"All required work was done in a few days. Noticed subfloor making noise about four months after the job was complete. The caulking around toilet base has visible space between the floor and the caulking. Toilet currently moves when you sit on it, now urine and moisture comes out at the base of the toilet. The bathtub support has given away some and the tub has detached from the caulking on wall."

"Working with this company was great. Jonathan Lawson was our project lead. He was always on time and always kept us informed of any delays. He is a perfectionist and did an outstanding job on our shower stall, back splash and under cabinet lighting. We are extremely pleased with the results of this project. The granite counter top was installed by Pro Stone. We did experience a lot of dust from sawing the tub and shower but we had anticipated it as friends of our had this done recently and they warned us, but it was a mess. Jonathan put up plastic to reduce this mess, but the dust was insidious. Carpet was put done everyday to protect the floors and he cleaned up every night. The project took longer than we anticipated, but we couldn't be happier with the job they did. Both the bath and kitchen look great."

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

The cost to replace a bathtub is $2,000 to $9,400. Whether you want to spruce up your bathroom or your existing bathtub is not functioning correctly, purchasing a new tub costs about $5,700 with installation. Prices depend on the type and size of the tub.

There are several ways to save money on a bathroom remodel through proper planning and savvy design strategies. To reduce costs, consider the following:

  • Purchase your own materials: Buy your own bathroom fixtures, hardware, and other materials to avoid contractor upcharges and delivery fees.

  • Shop smart for big-ticket items: Save on pricey items like tiles and tubs by shopping sales and at discount stores.

  • Avoid major layout changes: Keep plumbing in its current location. Opt to replace fixtures rather than moving them to avoid significant renovation work.

  • Focus on high-impact, low-cost updates: Make affordable but impactful smaller changes, such as upgrading hardware, installing new lighting, and adding stylish but economical accessories.

  • DIY where possible: Handle easier parts of the remodel yourself, like painting or installing light fixtures, to save on labor costs.

  • Time your remodel strategically: Consider remodeling in the spring, which tends to be a lower-demand time of year and may result in lower costs.

Yes. Common materials for Roman tubs are acrylic, fiberglass, cast iron, and stone resin. The choice you make can depend on various factors, including weight, cost, durability, style, heat retention, and aesthetics. Ultimately, it really depends on your space to determine the best option.

You can put a structure under your bathtub for support. Many modern tubs come with a built-in support structure underneath. Almost any type of mortar or floor-leveling compound is acceptable for new bathtubs that don’t include a support structure.

You can also install spray foam under an existing bathtub to eliminate or reduce squeaking or sagging. However, spray foam isn’t rigid enough for primary tub support.

Completing a full standard bathroom remodel offers the best value, with an average return on investment (ROI) of 70%. However, you don't need a full remodel to make an impact. To maximize value, focus on key components like flooring, the tub and shower, vanity, and cabinets. High-value upgrades include installing a walk-in shower, resurfacing a tub, retiling, or expanding the shower. For more budget-friendly options that still increase value, consider repainting with a light, neutral color, or updating the mirror and light fixtures. It's also crucial to address any necessary repairs, such as leaks, mold, or cracked tiles, as buyers will notice these issues. Avoid flashy upgrades like bathtub jets or steam showers, which don't add as much value.
