Compared to granite, the price can be similar, depending on the quality of the stone. While granite slabs can range from $50 to $200 per square foot, you can find lower-end granite in the same price range as porcelain. High-end granites will cost significantly more.

Porcelain is generally more expensive than laminate, acrylic, and ceramic, but less expensive than high-end slate, concrete, and marble. A key benefit is that porcelain does not require sealing, which reduces long-term maintenance costs.

While no countertop material is truly “heatproof,” granite countertops are extremely resistant to high temperatures. Some types of granite can withstand temperatures up to 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit. Recycled glass countertops are slightly cheaper than quartz countertops, though it depends on several factors. Recycled glass countertops cost between $65 and $140 per square foot, and quartz countertops cost $50 to $200 per square foot, though most projects come in at $70 to $100 per square foot. The final cost will come down to the quality of the material, local labor prices, and any customizations you require.
