John and Karen are the best. Karen came out, offered examples and suggestions of work to be done. John came out, measured, ordered product and install was within weeks. Everything was as expected, John is an excellent craftsman, on time, clean, knowledgeable and thorough. He had to get creative in a few areas in our 60 year old home but was able to solve and the cabinets came out great! Highly recommend Karen and John -OBX Specialties- for any and all of your needs. Karen and John are such nice people to have working in your home. Karenâ s design skills and Johnâ s cabinetry refacing expertise have given us a beautiful guest bathroom. They were very accommodating when there was a delay in tile for the floor, worked around their schedule and came quickly to finish the bathroom. We are completely satisfied.

I called them after dealing with another business that decided that the price quote to me was too low. They expected me to pay $5000 more. I called OBX and they came gave me a quote told me when they would start which they did and completed the job when they said. OBX was professional and personable . I highly recommend OBX to anyone!

As a new DIY’er... I had totally renovated a kitchen in my rental property.... I painted cabinets, tiled backsplash, epoxyed countertops. I stood back, admiring my work, gave myself a “ You are limitless “ pat on the back. All that was left to do, was install cabinet and drawer hardware.... I don’t know what I did, but .... the first two holes I drilled on my cabinets were way off, after careful measurements. So... moved on to the next door.... and same thing happened. After numerous try’s to fix my disaster, and almost in tears, due to time being under a time crunch.... I reached out to OBX Specialties...... I was so blessed to have Karen return my call in a few short minutes. Under all my stress, I tried explaining what had happened and asked if anyone could assist me with my blunder... (Now... keep in mind.... I am calling on a Tuesday in the late afternoon around 5:15 pm, when most businesses are at quitting time to go home and care for family.) Karen was all ears, and let me finish with my break down, then calmly gave me some pointers. I guess she could hear desperation in my voice, and said her husband would be home in 20 minutes, and she would grab some tools from him, and come over to lend me a hand.... In about 30 minutes, there was my angel sent from up above!!! Karen went to work, and included me in the process. She was a wealth of knowledge, and over the next 2.5 hours we were giggling and chatting like we had been friends for years. She showed me projects her business was currently working on, and seeing those....I knew she had made a big sacrifice to take time out of her busy day to come help me!! I can’t thank her enough for getting me back on track with my rental, and for all she taught me in the process! What an amazing and talented woman Karen is.... not only a wonderful business woman but one with TRUE COMPASSION!!! I also have to give thanks to her husband and business partner for putting up with cold dinner pots in the kitchen when he got home... LOL!!! Karen, thanks so much my new friend! You get 5 stars and will be my recommendation anytime someone needs home design with kitchen, bath, or whatever! You are truly a blessing to anyone who hires you!!!!

Karen and John were a joy to work with. They refaced our existing kitchen cabinets and installed new doors and drawers. They added crown molding to the top of the wall cabinets and added decorative molding to the bottom of those cabinets. They raised the countertop height so the size and depth of the drawers could be enlarged. Their design and attention to detail were outstanding. They thought of many items of which we were unaware of and had a sharp eye for color and design. Karen was always available for questions and advice and kept in constant contact from the very first time that we met them, got an estimate from them, and refined our design. We cannot say enough good things about them. John is a hell of a carpenter and Karen has a real eye for color and design. We give them 8 out of 5 stars!

We hired OBX Specialties because of their excitement and passion towards our kitchen remodel. With years of professional experience both John and Karen made the whole process seamless . They communicated extremely well with us the whole time . We trusted them fully when we weren t home, And kept a very tidy workspace. I would love to work with them again ! This was the best remodel experience anyone could hope for.Cabinet reface in kitchen,new quartz countertops,backsplash tile,new tile shower and new vanity.Karen and John delivered on what they said they would do,showed up as promised.I would have them back for more projects!Karen's help with design choices was seamless without being overbearing,truly heard what I wanted to see in our beach home.To my neighbors on Holden Beach,look these people up.

OBX could not have been better for our needs! Karen and John are true professionals. They guided us through every step of our kitchen renovation. They listened to our needs, made great suggestions, and followed through on every aspect. They were dependable and very flexible with our time schedule. The quality of their work was excellent. This is a downgrade from my previous 4.5 rating. Since then, four cabinet shelves have fallen, breaking several dishes. It appears that the shelves were cut too short for the space that they occupied. Over time, the L-shape support pegs had space to wiggle out of their holes. dropping the shelves. Also, (a minor point), the built-in dishwasher is not level. The legs on the left side are on floor tile while those on the right are not. It would have been easy to correct at the time of installation. My previous major complaint was that 9-inch cabinets (upper and lower) were installed where I had ordered 12-inch ones.

Working with John and Karen was an absolute pleasure. They are great at problem solving and never lose their cool! Doing a major renovation including a complete kitchen remodel and a master bath remodel always creates some unknown issues, but they made it all easy! We would definitely use them again, and in fact, are getting a quote for the remodel of our 3 additional bathrooms. In addition, I have provided their names to several others who are looking for similar work! If you choose them for your project, you will be VERY happy with the results! In addition, they stand behind whatever they do, so no worries there either!

Karen & John were excellent to work with! The quality of work was outstanding & they were punctual & efficient. There were a couple issues, but they corrected them right away. I would definitely recommend them!
