"Joe and his staff are knowledgeable and polite. They clean up any mess while they are creating it and when the job is complete there is no mess. I am encouraged as they seem to understand the cause of my roofing leak and how to prevent any future leaks. Time will tell. Great work! Great value!"

"All around great service, very professional and straight forward experience. From evaluation of roof condition and or damage, to working with the insurance adjuster to help determine replacement over repair options, Dunlop Roofing was top notch and did a wonderful job installing my new roof in just one day. Customers say: Terrific value

"From the time I contacted the owner until the complete job was done, I was treated with care, respect for my property, and a general sense that completing the job in a timely manner, with quality materials and workmanship was the owner and crew's uppermost goal...and, in my opinion they knocked it out of the park. This has been the best experience I've had with any contractor in a very long time! I recommend them wholeheartedly."

"The service they provided was great and the price was fair. My only complaint is that they seemed to have a hard time with the schedule. We were scheduled for 11am with a 1 hr window before or after that time. They didn’t arrive until 2:30."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Technically speaking, yes, verbal agreements and “handshake deals” can be legally binding contracts that will hold up in court, but the suing party will need to be able to prove that the parties entered into the contract. Even though verbal and handshake deals can be binding, it’s risky to rely on these types of agreements for anything, including roofing projects. Always aim to get your contract in writing, and make sure it includes all terms and that you don’t agree to additional terms that don’t appear in the contract.

For homeowners who plan to stay in their homes for a long time or never want to have to deal with replacing a roof again, rubber roof shingles are likely worth the added investment amount over asphalt shingle varieties. While the initial cost of installing a rubber shingle roof will be significantly higher, their long life spans can be worth it in the long term. Consider the curb appeal of a rubber roof, though, as other roofing materials, like metal, can look better and offer even greater value.

You only need to replace a roof before moving if it’s extremely old or has more than just a couple minor damages. For instance, leaks, uplifted shingles, or obvious holes are issues no one wants to deal with right when they move in, and will automatically repel potential buyers that might have otherwise been interested.

Clay tile roofing is common for traditional villas, while flat roofs are more standard for modern villa homes. Clay tile roofs are long-lasting, require little maintenance, and are great for warmer climates. Flat roofs are usually low-cost, energy-efficient, and allow for rooftop gardens.

The most important thing to remember when laying shingles is to work from the bottom of the slope to the top. This leaves you with a top overlap that directs runoff from one row to the next until it reaches the eave for disposal. You should also make sure you follow the manufacturer's instructions and the local building code for nailing patterns and frequency so all of your hard work stays put through varying weather conditions.
