"We replaced the windows in our 1933 home through the services of MadCity Windows. From the initial contact with their sales representative to final installation, the company provided top notch professional work. With the draft from the old windows and the cold of the glass, we are already saving on our energy bills. Our house had old, large windows, so they had to be custom made. As an industrial designer and interior designer, we find our windows to be of excellent quality."

"We were well aware of the reputation Veluxe had as superior long lasting manufacturing and products. We were very pleased with the professional installation of the products by Scott at Sun4light. Not only did he and his staff have a thorough knowledge about he products, but their installation methods and practices were exemplary. They showed up as promised, did not waste time, installed perfectly and made and left "no mess". Exactly what everyone hopes from an installation company, but many times don't receive. We give Veluxe and Sun4light 5 out of 5 stars and would highly recommend them to anyone."

"Haven’t had work done but estimate was done. All very efficient. I decided to hire them because the roofing folks I talked to didn’t seem to be used to doing skylights. Sun4Light only does skylights."

"Contractor that installed the window did very sloppy work. It also took a extended period of time for the contractor to return to make corrections to the window trim. Customer had to call the Raleigh office several times to get this problem corrected. Great window but very poor presentation!!"

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

To tell if a window is single or double-pane, focus on the edge. Double-pane windows have two glass layers separated by a spacer, which you can usually see around the edges. For single-pane windows, it’s just one sheet of glass. Another easy trick: shine a light at the window—single-pane glass reflects once, while double-pane glass reflects twice. Lastly, if you feel both sides of the glass on a cold day, double-paned windows will feel warmer because of the insulating gap between the panes.

Getting a streak-free shine after cleaning your windows requires both the right cleaning solutions—which can either include warm water and dish soap or warm water and rubbing alcohol—and the right tools—namely, a squeegee and a microfiber cloth. To make your streak-free glass cleaner, combine one gallon of warm water with a few drops of dish soap, and mix. Apply with a sprayer or sponge, and then dry with a squeegee, microfiber cloth, or old black-and-white newspaper pages.

Installation typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on the mirror size and mounting requirements.

Black spots on the bottom or along the edge of your bathroom mirror are caused by oxidation behind the mirror glass. When moisture and air are trapped between the glass and the backing, they react and cause discoloration. This is sometimes referred to as “mirror rot.” You’ll need to separate the glass and the backing to fully remove it.

Prior to the middle part of the 1900s, glass manufacturers used a technique that involved blowing glass into cylinder shapes that were then flattened out to create sheets used for windows and doors. This technique often left behind ripples and inconsistencies in the glass.
