"Over the course of the last year Grady Jones Paint has worked for me on (3) different occasions to repaint our home interior. The scope of work included scraping the popcorn ceilings, flattening them and then repainting them; repainting all of the walls; painting our cabinetry; and, finally, staining the exposed woodwork on our deck. Clee was very responsive and visited the project every time his workers were on site. Tim and Eddie made up the crew who did the work. They were amicable, professional, courteous and did a GREAT job. I plan to use Grady Jones Paint for any future work and recommend them to anyone in need of a paint contractor."

"I hired Joshua Home Repair to install a new kitchen sink faucet, install a grab bar in my half bathroom, and to apply a sealant to my wood furniture on the front porch. Joshua and his assistant did a thorough and complete job for all projects. Installations were done according to plan and instructions and my porch furniture is ready for the upcoming summer, fall, and winter weather. Joshua and his assistant cleaned up all trash and carried it away. They were both courteous and respectful of me and my home. I do recommend Joshua Home Repair and I do plan to hire them again as I and my daughter both have other projects that we want done. Thank you Joshua Home Repair for your service."

"We originally hired H&M to do an extensive amount of interior painting. They did a fantastic job. So we hired them to repair our cedar sided house and to paint the exterior. The work was amazing. The siding work is better than the original construction. The crew always did a great job of cleaning up. And the price is very fair. We will hire them again."

"Diego gave helpful advice on a whole house painting(including tin roof and decking). He and his crew spent significant time pressure washing and preparing all surfaces for paint and stain. They came promptly as the weather permitted. He and his crew were meticulous and expert in their painting. They left no mess behind on any day of work. It was fun to see the progress and we feel like we have a new home and deck and are thrilled with it. It was a pleasure to work with Diego and his crew."

"Jeremy from Grateful Painting stained the deck of our screen porch. Not only did he give us a reasonable estimate, he did a professional job. Would not hesitate to hire him again for other home painting projects."

"David and his crew did an amazing job painting almost the full interior of my house and some areas of the exterior. Pricing was reasonable and the group was very professional. They did almost all of my walls and ceilings with furniture and carpets throughout and didn’t leave a drop on the floor or furn. They were able to add scope at the end and even asked where my light bulbs were to change the couple that were out up high while they had ladders up. I am an architect and am used to doing a punch list or pointing out areas that need to be fixed up a little bit before finishing. When I got home and looked at everything, I didn’t find anything at all that I needed them to touch up. Beautiful job :) Will use them again and will share their contact with anyone looking to do a paint project, but also carpentry projects and small repairs. This was the third time I have used David’s group and I really trust that they will bring quality, professionalism, and strong expertise to their work."

"So out first small project went well. Just called Dave back for exterior repairs and staining a large deck and stairs. Also staining front deck and painting. Dave takes his time to complete a thorough job. No mess. Outcome was great. We have a large living room and hall for his next job. Easy to work with and fair price too."

"My husband and I had been looking for someone to complete a few maintenance repairs around our home (replacing shutters, fix trim along the rooftop, fix siding on the house, replace framework and seals around the garage door and install a ceiling fan). Jeremy Williams did a wonderful job completing all the repairs we needed done. He was very professional and friendly from the initial meeting to the completion of the home repairs. Thank you for all you did for us and we will definitely contact you for our future home repairs."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

You don’t necessarily have to remove all the old paint before repainting your deck, but it’s best to remove as much as possible to ensure a smooth and long-lasting finish. Prioritize scraping off loose, peeling, or flaking paint, and sand down rough areas to create a smooth surface for the new paint to bond with.

Costs depend on coating type, labor, site preparation, and required finishes.

Yes, it's a good idea to sand the wall with fine-grit sandpaper after spackling, especially if you plan on painting. You can do this by hand or using a sander, but the idea is to ensure the spackle is flush with the wall. Sanding will give your wall a smooth, uniform finish and help your paint and wallpaper stay put.

It’s a good idea to sand your porch before painting. This will remove loose or chipped paint and debris, and give you a cleaner surface so that your new paint goes on smoothly. But if the existing surface is in good condition, it’s not necessary to sand your porch before you paint.

Opt for an interior wood stain that is rated for your type of wood. Consider your personal style preferences as well as the overall use of the room when choosing a color. Remember, the color you see at the store may look different on your actual floors once applied. This is why if you have the chance, it’s helpful to test a few options on a scrap piece of wood in the room first. Once you narrow it down, you can test a small patch on an inconspicuous area in the room to see it on the actual floors.
