"Actually Fairbanks removed my garden tub and installed a walk-in tub with hydrotherapy. The project included an electrian & 2 plumbers....they were profession, efficient, and very approachable. The Project Team did a good job scheduling & handling any other issues or questions I had. The salesman for Koehler was excellent, also."

"I used Tin Lizzee to diagnosis my refrigerator. John S. was very knowledgeable and helpful in diagnosing the problem. Lucky for us it was a minor repair. This is a wonderful service that was quick and efficient and affordable. Unlike the other place that I called that wanted to charge me $89-129 for a diagnostic and could not come out until about 2 weeks later. I definitely will use Tin Lizzee again for future appliance issues. I will tell all my friends and family about this service also. Thank you John S and Tin Lizzee for such wonderful customer service."

"I interviewed 6 companies and although JES was the most expensive, they had the smartest and most complete/permanent solution. My rep was Jose Amaya and he was very helpful and recommended a solution the other companies didn't that solved the problem! He was very responsive and answered questions even after the work was done. The crew led by Brian Swain was awesome and they worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up after themselves. I was very satisfied by the work and I'm very happy I went with them. They are an example of you get what you pay for!"

"HIRE HIM! Gerell has the most amazing customer service and competence. I would highly recommend him -- I've never in all my life hired a plumber who was as communicative about scheduling, showed up when he said he would, diagnosed and quickly handled the problem, and charged such reasonable prices as Gerell. He was in the Airforce before he was a plumber, and he certainly exudes discipline and integrity. I look forward to working with him as I complete many projects in my home. He is a delight!!"

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

It is generally safe to stay in a house that smells like sewage for a short time, but you should get the problem fixed as soon as possible. While the level of sewer gas is usually low enough to only cause minor symptoms, prolonged inhalation can lead to headaches, nausea, or respiratory irritation. High levels of gas exposure can be more dangerous, and high concentrations of methane—a component of sewer gas—can pose an explosion risk in enclosed spaces. If you smell sewer gas in your home, ventilate the area and call a professional to locate, assess, and fix the problem, as it will not go away on its own.

Pipes most often burst during winter and early spring because those seasons experience the coldest temperatures that can freeze pipes. Pipes typically begin to freeze when the outside temperature falls below 20 degrees Fahrenheit—but it’s not a hard and fast rule.

The largest risk is any period of time when outdoor temperatures fall below freezing for six hours or more. That’s an average winter night in many areas of the United States, so it’s best to take precautions before winter begins, like insulating your pipes.

It’s possible to snake minor drain clogs yourself, provided they sit within a foot or two of the drain itself, but it’s usually best to hire a professional plumber regardless. Even experienced DIYers have a high chance of accidentally pushing the clog further into the drain using a drain snake or another tool, so hiring a plumber is the ideal course of action. A professional plumber can use camera equipment to locate and identify the clog, and remove the entire blockage to fix your issue permanently.

Yes, you can fix pipe threads. In fact, the process is the same as cutting new ones. You’ll need to use a pipe threader tool with the proper size die head for the pipe. Turning the threader over the damaged threads will clean up any damaged or worn-out threads in the pipe. If the pipe threads are too damaged, this process may not work, and you’ll need to replace the pipe.

You can use a water gauge to check that water pressure, which should be between 40 and 60 PSI. If you don’t have a water gauge, you can also time how long your showerhead takes to fill up a 1-liter container. If it takes longer than 6 seconds, you’re dealing with a case of low water pressure.
