"Jack is such an amazing, knowledgeable and professional pond guy! He has a real talent in how he structures his waterfalls, ponds and landscaping. He truly cares about the wildlife your pond draws in. We had a leaking waterfall and a very green pond. We received no help or guidance from a well known pond company in the area regarding these issues and we were ready to give up. When Jack came to take a look at it, he assured us he could fix it, so we went with his suggestions. All I can say is â WOWâ - He went above and beyond! He not only fixed it, but we have a stunning new waterfall and a crystal clear pond that we can actually see the fish in! If you are considering a new water feature or need maintenance on a pond you currently own, Jack is the guy! I truly cannot say enough good things about our experience working with him!"

"Bill recently ripped out my old overgrown landscaping in the front of my house, and redesigned it to include Encore azaleas and other plants. The redesign is fantastic and I’m very happy with it. He also updated my yard with landscape lighting, which many of my neighbors have now commented how much they enjoy. I’ve previously had Bill and his team install a fountain, replace much of my poorly designed irrigation system (that came with the house when I bought it), and fix fencing for me when a tree came down, and the fencing required custom work. He and his team leads do great work. Bill is a perfectionist, and he always goes above and beyond. It's hard to find someone with this kind of work ethic nowadays."

"I highly recommend using Sisk Landscaping for all your landscaping and irrigation needs. Steve is a consummate professional who is incredibly knowledgeable and trustworthy. We called Steve because we were trying to sell our house and were having a major issue doing so since potential buyers did not like seeing the main road behind us. Steve came out to assess the situation and devised a plan to screen off the road by planting 18' cryptomerias along our back wall. Not only did this solve our problem, it looks amazing! Steve also transplanted all of the existing Hollies that were back there around the yard to provide additional levels of privacy, created new beds for them, ran new drip line to all of the trees and mulched everything. When the project was completed I honestly wanted to pull our house off the market bc of how much better our yard looked overall. I will definitely be calling Steve again for any landscaping needs we have in our new house and have already recommended him to our friends and family."

Fountains questions, answered by experts

Smaller, pondless water features like bird baths, self-contained fountains, and bubbling rocks are much lower maintenance than their counterparts that include ponds. Pondless features help you avoid high pond maintenance costs and allow you to spend more time enjoying the water feature and less time on upkeep.

Most outdoor water fountains and features do not use a lot of electricity, typically consuming between 100 and 250 watts per day. The size of the fountain's motor can impact its overall electricity usage. To reduce energy consumption, you can use a timer to automatically turn the fountain off at night or when you are away from home. Additionally, installing solar power components can help lower electricity costs after the initial investment is recouped.

You can choose several types of fountains to add to your backyard, ranging in size, number of basins, and special water features.

Check out the price ranges of common fountain types:

  • Birdbath fountains: $40 to $1,100

  • Cascading fountains: $40 to $2,000

  • Tiered fountains: $100 to $6,000

  • Kugel fountains: $150 to $5,000

  • Glass wall fountains: $100 to $3,000

Yes, your fish should stay alive in a frozen pond if you winterize it properly. By ensuring your pond has enough oxygen, good water quality, and a hole to release harmful gases, your pond and fish have the best chance of staying alive and healthy. However, if you have tropical fish, they should be overwintered indoors.

In short, yes, a pond can add to your home’s value. However, whether it adds value will depend on the condition and aesthetic of your pond. Having this feature already built into a yard’s home can be appealing to homebuyers who value its aesthetic and would prefer not to build it themselves. But if it is not kept in good condition, it could turn buyers away.
