"Dylan did some design work on my lawn to make it more attractive and maintainable. He set up an inexpensive automatic watering system and seeded to crowd out clover. My yard looks really good, better than it ever had before TopDown. Dylan always meets appointed times, is honest and conscientious . Highly recommend Top Down service."

"My first contact with this company was the lady who took pictures of the areas and listened carefully to what we wanted. She then sent photos and we completed the plans. A lot of work had to be done to remove weeds and growth before sod could be spread. The workers did so carefully and added a small bed of shrubs with the sod area. Extra soil was added to level the ground before adding sod. This area is now growing quite well. Two other beds were established with extra soil and the type of mulch that we prefer. They even moved two azaleas from one area to one of the beds. These are doing well so care was taken to complete this. Since I still had some problems with some weeds growing back into the beds, they have returned to work on this. Both Devin and Cathi are very easy to work with and make sure that the work is above standard. They are willing to discuss my questions and help me understand what all is involved with the work. They are quite professional. My husband described Cathi as quite a hard worker as she comes with the team to manage the work and jumps right in to do the work, as well. We are quite pleased with this company and even referred them to a dear friend. I look forward to working with them on other projects we may have. When I mentioned that the gutters needed cleaning, they do that also. So, we hired them for this as well."

"I had several estimates. He was the only one that tested the soil we have, only one that killed the old grass and weeds, only one that tilled the soil, only one that laid it himself like an expert he is. He has already came back to check it, and give advise and also will come back in 2 weeks. I really appreciate his efforts and time he spent doing our sod. It looks great, and my neighbor thinks so too. He did her's too. I will recommend him to everyone. I like this Home Advisor site."

Weed Services questions, answered by experts

They compete for nutrients and water, potentially stunting desired plants.

Like sugar, the common household staple baking soda has uses in the yard. Baking soda boosts your plants to resist pests, fungal growth, and more. So, baking soda is good for your plants in certain instances, but exercise caution, as using too much could kill your plants. It’s great for hunting for pesky weeds, but not great for tending to a sensitive garden.

Clover is a sustainable, low-maintenance alternative to turfgrass, allowing homeowners to put away the mower while enjoying a lush and consistent lawn. The plant also attracts pollinators, adds nitrogen to low-nutrient soil, and holds up in a range of climates. Consult a local lawn care professional to determine whether replacing your grass with clover is right for your yard.

Weeds can grow through rubber mulch, but it depends on if you removed all the weeds in your garden beforehand. Weeds already in the soil can grow even when using rubber mulch. However, that doesn’t mean that your garden will be littered with rubber and weeds, but it does mean that the occasional weed might still pop up. Another way you can increase your weed suppression is by using landscape fabric as a second layer.

Dandelions, while hard to control and widespread across the country, are not typically categorized as noxious. Yellow starthistle, however, looks very similar to a dandelion and is highly damaging to local plants and invasive across the country.
