Very well finished in a day and a half and the fence looks wonderful. Also planning in the near future to be using them again. Love the way they kept us informed as they were doing the job. Will definitely recommend to friends and family

We now have a gorgeous fence giving our land privacy and protection. It was a large job with several bumps, literally. We love that it goes with the flow of our land and looks so clean. It wasn’t cheap but it was reasonably competitive in pricing. They cleaned up after the job and we never knew they were there afterwards. We even added some extra items to the job at the end and it was finished in the same timeline. We would use them again. I appreciate Ricardo and his crew working with us and even understanding we had been bit in the past by other contractors and keeping in contact the whole time with updates and having us come out to approve even simple changes. RBS Contractors did a great job installing my patio. They are reliable, very efficient and their service is exceptional. I highly recommend this business.

My wife placed a job on Angi.com. Ricardo with RBS Contractors called, and we set an appointment. We told him we were looking for the yard drainage, fence, and attached patio cover. He was able to quote us on the fence, grading and drainage. It made sense to let RBS Contractors do both at the same time. Get the grading and drainage done first then then the fence. The initial fence quote was rejected by our HOA because of the type fence we selected. Ricardo resubmitted a new quote with our new selection, and it was approved. The new quote Included a vinal skirt (Or something like that) to prevent erosion. That is fine because of the fence change. Total Paid: $17,000.00 Complaint: RBS did not install the drainage system they quoted. RBS removed swells without approval and removing the swells was not on the documentation submitted to our HOA. RBS failed to install fence in a timely manner, did not patch holes close to ground on post, and installed the gates to open in different directions. We also have a broken latch on one of the gates. They left materials laying around our yard. One post had a pipe sticking out for several weeks. I had to pick up materials to keep from killing grass. RBS did not grade our yard; they did not level the back right part of the yard after removing trees. The drainage system they installed does not handle the volume of rain we get. I personally sent Ricardo many emails, voice mails, and text messages with information about the project that were ignored. RBS has never addressed my concerns about HOA guidelines. RBS failed to address emergency request for safety concerns. RBS buried one of my sprinkler heads. Sprinklers have not worked since the outside box was flooded because of the closed drain system. After all the problems we had I was reviewing the quotes, contracts and noticed the invoice for removal included a $400.00 charge for erosion barrier. I ask Ricardo and he said he would ask the front office, but he never mentioned it again. At one point Ricardo told us we would have to wait 4 to 5 months for the holes and ankle breakers in our back and side yard to “LEVEL OUT”. Sabrina and I have numerous text messages, and I have several voice messages from Ricardo stating they will make sure our yard is level and draining properly. As of August 24, 2024 our yard is not level, we have dead areas where the rainwater pools and does not have a way to drain (This has caused mold and after rain the pooling water has an smell), this could also be from stagnant water in the fence post where the plugs are not installed, water floods and pools in our neighbors flower bed, the new water flow has caused the City Power Box in the front yard to wash and is killing grass from box to sidewalk. I have attached photos to show some of my concerns. Some of the photos are duplicated to show before, after RBS stated they were done, my complaints and the patches they made because the yard was not leveled or graded. Resolution requested: We want a safe usable backyard with proper grading away from our house, drainage that meets our HOA guidelines and a fence that does not have holes where water, bugs, and snakes could enter. This was the intent of our agreement. You sat at our table and promised Sabrina and I we would be happy. That is why you always give the lifetime personal guarantee. We are not happy and asking you make good on your promise. Option 1: Sabrina and I are open for a discussion to come up with an alternative solution that meets the requirements of Cabarrus County Engineering and our HOA guidelines. Ricardo has been provided a copy of our HOA. RBS Contractors was fully aware before any work started; we were under HOA guidelines. The work performed was outside the agreement and does not meet our HOA requirements. Option 2: Refund of $13,000.00. Total Paid: $17,000.00 The pipe is the only part that can be guaranteed for reuse. Pipe materials credit of- $1,500.00. The system you installed has caused mold in several areas so SOD cannot be reused. We will have to find someone to remove the post and inspect for any issues then reinstall the proper post. Fence $2,500.00 cost to have inspected and repaired. $2,500.00 + $1,500.00 = $4,000.00. $17,000.00 - $4,000.00 = $13,000.00. TIMELINE: January 11, 2024 Agreement for leveling, grading, subsurface drain, sod. January 12, 2024 Agreement for Fence January 16, 2024 Updated agreement for fence with HOA changes. February 2, 2024 Additional quote for removal of trees and flowerbeds. The agreement was for RBS Contractors, LLC to install fence, level, and grade back yard, both sides of house, remove flower beds, trees, and install drainage system. Drainage system included 2 exit drains at the sidewalk, like other drains on the street. After the initial removal of existing grass and digging of trench we brought to their attention the entire back yard meant removal of trees and flowerbeds. They failed to do that part and said it was not in the quote. It was our understanding it was included with the first quote. They provided an additional quote to remove the trees and flowerbed. Below 1. Level and Grade out approximately 1,800Sqft of Back yard for preparation of drainpipe installation 2. Removal of dirt waste and any other debris from installation 3. Trench approximately 300ft, Pre-lay Pea Gravel and install drain pipe and 2 Box Drains 4. Spread Out Top soil and Lay out Sod for Approximately 2000Sqft along back and sides of Property 5. Removal of 2 Crepe Myrtle tees along with their roots in both opposing corners of back yard. 6. Removal of all shrubs and bushes within mulch/ flower beds that will also be disposed of along side of backyard concrete pad and house $2,100.00 7. Silt Fence barrier to be installed between new vinyl fence and neighbors existing wooden fence for erosion purposes 8. Fence was to be installed after grading and leveling. On February 9, 2024, they told us they were finished with the landscaping. The instructions were not to over water and do not water after 6:00 PM because they did not want water to get between the sod and ground because it could mold. On February 26, 2024, at 2:30 PM, after a short rain, I sent a text message to RBD asking for him to call because I had some questions. At 4:20 he called, and I explained that I was concerned about the work they did. I had water flooding my patio during and after the rain. I also told him the back yard had potholes. I ask why they did not install the box drains and was told they could not go over the underground power lines. But it was OK because they put in a “CLOSED” system the kind businesses use. I told him this was not what we agreed on and was told it will be fine. At 4:30 I sent him a text message with photos where various areas were flooding and water flowing from my downspouts to my neighbor’s flower bed and almost into his AC unit. Also, photos of the back yard before they put the sod down. It was not smoothed or graded. March 4, 2024, I complained that the closed system the installed had sprung a leak. And the system they installed was not working. I still had flooding, water pooling and draining into my sprinkler box. March 9, 2024, they came back and “PATCHED” that side of the house, put a box drain next to my sprinkler box, extended the drain over the electrical lines and put in a box drain but short the sidewalk as agreed (this should have been done the first time), filled some low spots. I ask about the other side, and he said it was not needed and was not going to do anything unless we had problems. Between March 9th and March 26th, I had several calls, and they came out. I was still having low spots, pooling water, and the back yard was not usable because of the holes. Also, the water from my roof drain was backflowing to my foundation. At one point I even calculated the maximum water the closed system could handle, and the last rainfall and it could not handle half the rain fall. I measured the depth of the trenches, length of the trenches, and using data from the national weather service calculated the size of the trenches without the pipe, fill, and gravel was not big enough for

RBS is one of the worst contracting companies I’ve ever worked with. I hired them to help with a fence repair and during that repair they destroyed my irrigation system in 5 separate places after pointing out to them where the system was located in the yard. After I realized the system was broken I reached out to Ricardo for remediation of the situation, and not only did he not pay for the damages he denied that he ever destroyed the fence in the first place. I CANNOT STRESS HOW UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISHONEST THIS COMPANY is. I wouldn’t wish this company to do work for my greatest enemy. Ricardo seemed like a standup person when I first met him, but now I regret ever knowing him. I would use with extreme caution.
