"Pleased with the work and the service. The young lady that assisted with the scheduling was helpful and courteous. The plumbers were professional, timely and did great work. I was so pleased I have them coming back to perform some electrical work. I am sure the electrician will be amazing. Unfortunate for me, the scheduling is being mishandled by a gentleman that is horrible with returning calls and setting up appts."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, yes, a wall outlet can just go bad. You could’ve purchased a faulty outlet, had it improperly installed, or just blown a fuse in your home. Regardless of what caused the issue, it’s important for you to hire the right professional for this job so they can get it done right the first time.

You should never plug a normal 120v appliance into a special 240v outlet, as it can quickly burn out the appliance. This will cause irreparable damage to the appliance and, in worse case scenarios, cause damage to your circuit breaker. Check your appliance’s rating before plugging it into a 220v outlet to avoid electrical disaster.

You can plug your electric car into a regular 120-volt household outlet only if you’re using a Level 1 charger. This method is slower and may take several days to fully charge your EV. For faster charging, you’ll need a Level 2 charger, which requires a 220- or 240-volt outlet.

You can distinguish the amplitude and voltage of most outlets by looking at the shape and positioning of the holes. Other features like buttons, switches, and USB ports help identify electric outlets, too. Use labeled images, like the ones we’ve included above, to cross-reference with your outlets.

Window ACs use 500 to 1,400 watts per hour of electricity, while mini-splits use 500 to 700 watts per hour. However, if you need to cool multiple zones in your house, your mini-split can use as much as 2,000 watts per hour. How often you run your system will impact how much electricity you use (and how much you pay per month).
