We are a small family run business, with four employees most like family. We strive to help the homeowners to provide protection, beauty, and/or privacy to their yard. As normal practices for us, we ask for half deposit on all our jobs then the remaining balance upon completion. We are currently booking out work into 8 weeks. "Excellent repair job with absolutely no complaints. This review is after posting a 3 star review a few days ago for not returning my phone calls. I was contacted on Monday and given an apology with explanation that the company had been short staffed and had tried to contact me earlier, apparently the call going to my Spam box. On 12-14-22, Tyler arrived at 11 AM and immediately went to work to locate the trouble with my underground dog fence. Apparently several breaks were located and repaired, about a 2 hour job. Tyler was very professional and apologetic for not getting out sooner and reduced my service bill by 50% for any inconvenience experienced. I tried to remove the earlier comments posted a few days back but was unsuccessful, thus this new review. Outstanding and pleased with the repair."

Jerry Dodgen bought the company in 1971 from Frank Parker, who had started the company in 1955. It was called Parker Fence Company at that time. Jerry added the “D” and changed the name to Parker-D Fence Company. Jerry also bought a 1930 A Model truck with three rolls of wire fence loaded in the back and incorporated it as the new logo. Jerry Dodgen retired in 1998, the same year the company moved to its present location of 526 N. Broad St. Gastonia NC. Jerry’s son Rocky started working for his dad at age 12 after school, weekends and summers for $1.00/hr. Today Rocky Dodgen is the president of Parker-D and has over 38 years experience building fences (the only job he’s ever had!) Parker-D has 8 employees and really takes pride in their work, having built thousands of fences in North and South Carolina.

"Rocky Dodgen sent his employee out a couple of times to estimate our request for a black metal fence with brick columns at the gate. He did not do the masonry work but hooked us up with a mason who did a good job. The columns looked good, matched the brick in the house, and were plumb and lined up well. The fence installed looks great-we went with commercial quality - we chose that for a more substantial look. The installation was done while we simultaneously had a roofing crew on premises but they did not get in each other's way, or we did not hear any problems. Installation was done in two days-primarily to allow the roofers to complete their work before finishing the attachments to the house. The only negative is that we were told the materials would take three weeks to arrive and they took five weeks. We did rely on the timing as we were acquiring a pet and wanted the fenced in space for the pet. So two or three weeks of delay beyond expectations. When the materials arrived, the install was done within 3 business days after."
