"Water heater broke on Memorial Day weekend. Brandon came out promptly, tracked down a water heater even though warehouse was closed & installed late Saturday. He was knowledgeable, professional & good humor. I definitely recommend!"

"Our 14 year-old tankless water heater has had sudden temperature drops recently. We contacted All About Plumbing and made an appointment. Eric, the plumber, arrived on schedule did a thorough diagnostic of the unit, identified the cause of the temperature variances and investigated parts availability with the manufacturer. He advised that our particular unit (and its component electrical controls) is no longer being manufactured and that a replacement "motherboard" could not be secured from the manufacturer. Further, he obtained a price quote for an updated replacement unit and determined the cost(s) of installation. Our old unit is still working and will need to be replaced in the near future. As the work becomes necessary there is no question that we will contact All About Plumbing have have them do the work."

Customers say: Quality work

"1 of my out of state rental properties had a water heater issue. Mr. Brown contacted me within 30 minutes of my request. He showed up as promised at the time we agreed. Repaired the issues and charged a FAIR PRICE. Having someone I can rely on locally is a huge plus for me. I would recommend Mr Brown 100 out of 100 times."

He picked up my water heater at Home Depot (He is a Very patient man and waited until HD got everything straightened out). and brought it here, The old one was taken away, then he installed the new heater.. The service was very good. The work was very good as well. I would not hesitate to hire him again. Highly recommended."

"Both of the owners were polite and easy to work with. They showed up on time and did quality work to replace very poor work done by another plumber. They weren't the cheapest but you get what you pay for. I know after replacing three hot water heaters in 16 years."

"Never having had this same problem before, it is hard to make a cost comparison. But our sense is that, in an urgent situation, we were not taken advantage of or pressured. We got quick response -- were told how to stop further leakage, and got new water heater installed the same day. Also learned about services in future that can prevent some forseeable issues. Richard was personable and professionable. He called when en route, and sent photo so we'd recognize him. He was knowledgeable, and explained situation and our options thoroughly. Then he acted expeditiously to turn a potential disaster (with company coming!) into a relatively fast "save" with no significant cleanup/damage to address afterward. We had been without a regular plumber, and knew we needed one. Now we've found one we like and trust. Hard to put a price tag on that!"

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

While heat pump water heaters are more expensive than gas-powered water heaters, the ROI is higher for heat pump units. Not only are heat pump water heaters more energy efficient, meaning immediate savings on your energy bill, but they also last longer than traditional gas versions, meaning you won't have to buy them as often.

If your system is not vented properly, you could experience what’s called backdrafting. Backdrafting is when your ventilation system isn’t working as it should, and instead of releasing gases outside, they get trapped inside your home.

Gas and propane water heaters create a few types of combustion gases, but the most dangerous is carbon monoxide. If there’s too much build-up of these gases inside your home, it can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Yes, you can replace a current tank water heater with a tankless model or vice versa. If you’re maintaining the same fuel source—gas or electricity—the switchover should be smooth. A conventional tank requires open floor space, while a tankless model can be wall-mounted. If you’re switching to a tank water heater, you might need to clear space for it. Gas-powered tankless water heaters need a large volume of gas when they start running to heat the water instantly. You might need to increase the size of the gas line when going from a tank to a tankless model.

You don’t have to replace expansion tanks at the same time as your hot water heater. You may be able to go six to 12 years or more before needing to replace your expansion tank. At $150 to $450, hot water heater expansion tanks are usually much more affordable than the cost of hot water tanks themselves, which average about $1,190.

Any item that can hold on to moisture and encourage mold growth should be discarded and replaced following water damage. Upholstered items, such as armchairs and couches, and soft items, such as mattresses, usually must be thrown away once they've taken on a lot of water. Soft furniture is difficult to dry out, creating an inviting environment for mold.

You may also need to replace hardwood furniture following water damage if you're unable to fully dry it out. If you have appliances and electronics that have been fully submerged in water, particularly sewage, you'll need to replace those, too.
