"The owner is knowledgeable, friendly and ready to help. This company took down my old fence and put up a new one in the fall. This spring the guys pressure washed the fence an stained it. They also redid the railings on my deck , pressure washed them an restained. Professional perfection best describes Summerlin Exteriors."

"Benn was very quick to return my calls or texts which was great since I had a lot of trouble trying to communicate with other fencers. He was prompt and very pleasant to deal with. Plus he came up with good ideas for our project that we had not thought of. He does not use fencing sections that are pre-cut. Everything is custom for each job. We couldn t finish our fence when we ran into property boundary issues. But Benn was extremely patient and fair. I recommend him highly."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

When deciding to replace or repair your existing fence, consider the 20% rule that fence builders reference. This rule states that if more than 20% of your fence needs repair, you should skip the repair and replace it. Additionally, if your fence is nearing the end of its life, it's often best to replace it.

Repairing the fence is a good option when you have minimal damage or damage from a specific event versus wear and tear. Your fence repair professional can assess the damage and compare the repair price with the cost of a new fence.

Costs depend on material, labor, and additional features like gates or decorative elements.

Concrete is one of the easiest, most cost-efficient, and most effective ways to stabilize a fence post. To stabilize a fence post with concrete, you’ll dig a hole around the post in question and fill it up with concrete—easy as that. Concrete lasts about 50 years on average, so it’s a long-term solution.

To effectively keep animals out of your yard with a fence, choose a fence that anchors to the ground to deter digging. Also, consider adding a barrier below the fence to prevent burrowing.

To make your yard less desirable to animals, eliminate food sources like a vegetable garden, and ensure your garbage cans are sealed and tamper-proof. Installing motion-activated devices like lights or sprinklers will startle animal intruders. Also, a fence won’t work well if you forget to keep gates closed and secure. If you still face persistent animal intrusion issues, contact a wildlife control expert who can offer specialized solutions.

When deciding between fence post foam and concrete, the best choice depends on your specific needs and priorities. Concrete is generally considered stronger and more durable, making it the preferred option for heavy, load-bearing posts. However, expanding foam offers several advantages, such as being more eco-friendly and curing much faster. For smaller fences or those made with lighter materials like vinyl or wire mesh, post foam is a good alternative. While concrete is more affordable, it is also harder to work with and has a longer curing time.
