"Even though it was a holiday weekend, Alex emailed me almost immediately after I submitted my request on HomeAdvisor. He was polite and courteous and it was apparent from our communication, that he was very knowledgeable about what we were dealing with. He came out the very first day that our project was submitted and did an excellent job installing our new, "Glass Rainfall Shower Panel Rain Massage System with Jets and Hand Shower". He was so good and his prices were so reasonable that we asked him to do another job while he was here and have scheduled him to come back another day for additional projects. I would highly recommend him and as I said, have already scheduled him for additional projects. He is hard-working, prompt, and a very skilled plumber."

"After interviewing a few local solar companies, we were most impressed by the professionalism and knowledge of Mike, the owner. We are so glad we did bc everything went so smooth. Mike and his crew went above and beyond and charged a more than fair price compared with the other estimates we got. My wife and I are loving our new power system all from the sun! Sol farm is the best!"

"Prompt and professional work at an extremely good price. I have nothing but good things to say about their service and would highly recommend them to anyone. I am going to hire them again for another project in the near future for which he gave me some great advice.

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

Yes, you have to get on the roof to cut a hole for solar tubing. It's not possible to complete the job from inside your house by simply cutting through the ceiling. So if you want to go the DIY route, remember to use safe ladder practices. If you’re not comfortable climbing on your roof to install solar tubes, hire a pro who has the tools and expertise to do the job safely.

Yes, it is possible to install solar panels on a tar and gravel roof, but it is not the ideal roofing material for a solar installation. The process requires roof penetrations to install the solar racking system. While installers will seal these penetrations, they still increase the risk of leaks. This risk is higher on tar and gravel roofs, which are often flat. Flat roofs are more prone to leaks than sloped roofs because they can pool water during heavy rain and hold snow for longer periods, exposing the roof to more moisture.

There are a few great questions to ask a solar contractor or inspector when you speak to them. You’ll probably want to find out about the energy yield and efficiency of your array, ensuring the actual output matches the amount you calculated when installing the array in the first place. It’s also a good idea to find out about any damage or wear and tear on the array and to inquire about how soon you need to make repairs or replacements to essential components.

  • Installing a new electrical meter box

  • Replacing your meter base

  • Replacing your service entrance cable

The cost to install or upgrade an electrical meter box ranges from $100 to $650, including $50 to $250 for the unit. The meter base passes the power from your electric company to your panel. The cost to replace a meter base is roughly $50 to $250.

Service entrance cables are electrical cables with multiple wires, bringing power from electrical companies to residential buildings. The cost to replace a service entrance cable ranges roughly from $1,000 to $1,500.

In most states, solar installers need to be licensed and insured as solar professionals, although some states don’t have specific requirements for installers. You can use our state licensing tool to check if an installer you’re considering hiring holds the proper licensing. No matter where you live, a member of your solar panel installation company must be a certified electrician to connect your panels to your home and the electric grid.
