"I bought a house in the historic district of Wilmington.  It was a great
house, but with small living room and dining room.  I wanted an open
house plan on the first floor with the living room, dining room and
hallway turned into one space.  I had several builders look at the
project.  One said it could not be done, another two 'top' builders in
town basically said that they had done it before, knew how to do it, and
really did not seem interested in talking to me about what I wanted,
only what they had done before.   Fortunately, a very good upholsterer
who was doing work for me suggested Advantage Construction.   I am very
particular about workmanship and I wanted fabulous woodwork in my living
room/dining room.  Corky took me to see cabnetry that they had done in
the past.  It looked great and their price was very fair and lower than
what the 'top' builders quoted.  Price is important to me, but even more
important is a builder who will talk to me about what I want and help
me figure it out.   The crew was very interested and patient while we
figured out how I wanted it to look.  When I changed something, they
were very good about it.    Corky said that he would not be happy with
the job unless I was happy.  All upcharges were with my approval and
were because I added something.  They always told me when they would be
late due to picking up materials, etc.   Frankly, I don't even talk to other builders or ask for quotes from them anymore.  I know that the Advantage crew listens to me, knows what they are doing, does a great job, and quotes fairly.
