"Update 1/30/25 Anthony & Sylvan had a leak detection company come and locate the leak with a camera. The leak is in the piping from the pool to the pump. They said they would cover the cost of the camera detection, but fixing the leak my responsibility. Mind you my pool is 3 years old and the piping IN THE GROUND broke. The guys who installed the piping reeked of marijuana. But I was told not to worry, that the piping is inspected. Mind you, all the work to install your pool is subcontracted out. Estimate to repair it is $3,500!!! They will not cover the costs! Update 12/21/24 I finally received a response, a boilerplate email. It basically said for me to do a bucket test. Then, if I see it?s leaking for me to contact a leak detection company. If a leak is detected in the shell then I can re-contact Anthony Sylvan to determine the next steps. Otherwise, if it?s outside the shell, I?m on my own. This pool is less than three years old. I received no phone call, no communication to det"

Most hot tub motors can last between five and 10 years; however, hot tub motors can burn out sooner if the hot tub water is not maintained or if the motors themselves are not maintained or protected from the elements. Since hot tub motors (also referred to as spa pumps) power the jets and circulate the water, they are important for the functioning of your spa. Buying a quality motor, keeping the hot tub filter clean, and keeping the wet end of the motor wet and the dry end dry can help them last longer.

Most outdoor hot tubs last between five and 20 years, excluding inflatable tubs, which last five to seven years. High-quality, maintained tubs can last decades, while low-quality, poorly maintained tubs may not hit five years. A good warranty, professional installation, quality materials, and proper maintenance will help a tub last longer.

The cost to repair a hot tub or spa ranges from about $170 to $550, depending on the repairs needed. Some of the most common hot tub repairs include leaks, clogged filters, and tripped GFCI breakers. If it’s an electrical problem, you should contact a professional hot tub repair service. Don’t DIY electrical repairs on a hot tub, as poorly repaired wiring can make the hot tub a serious electrocution hazard.

Hot tub repairs cost between $200 and $500 on average. You can minimize those costs by maintaining your hot tub and keeping necessary supplies on hand. An elevated shelf in the garage is a great place to store your water care chemicals so that kids and pets will stay safe and you’ll always have them around.

Your hot tub should be drained of existing water, cleaned, and refilled every three to four months at a minimum. Follow your tub manufacturer’s recommendations for cleaning, and rinse thoroughly when finished to eliminate any residue from the cleaning products. This is also a good time to inspect your tub’s cover in good lighting for any leaks, tears, or other damage that might cause problems.

Using your hot tub manufacturer’s suggested cleaners and methods, keep your hot tub filters clean to avoid a loss of water heat. This will help extend the filter’s useful life and efficiency. If the filter is more than two to three years old, replace it with a new one and buy a second filter to keep around as a spare.
