"Very thorough and very pleased. They replaced facia that had been damaged by local critters, I then went on to have them replace my gutters and install leaf guard. They coordinated all of their work with my painters and installed the new gutters very professionally. After installation, the job site was cleaned up."

"Our is 2.5 storey and steep roof. Owner visited and without getting on roof told me that you need to replace 2 flashings. The house is 9 years old and according to him ( I am not sure) it is better to replace flashing after 10-12 years any way. I think flashing should have same about 30 years life of roof. However, I accepted the recommendation as cost was $150. Also, I don't think they inspected or did anything on other side of the roof. He sent Brian in the following week to carry out work. Brian is really hardworking honest guy. He spent about 4 hours on roof to replace flashing and nail down singhles on one side of roof. I was not happy since they didn't even look at other side of roof. Since my $200 +79 was worth their effort of 4 hours I am OK with the service provided. However, I felt that they are giving this deal to generate more business. and chnging of flushing was not necessary. Anyway I was happy with Brian and hence I am giving A other wise I would have given B."

"My wife and I attended the Home Improvement Show held at the Civic Center in Raleigh with the objective to meet replacement window dealers. To be totally honest, within an hour of arriving at the show we both felt overwhelmed from the exposure to numerous window sales people and how their window was the best. We then walked up to the Metal Works & Improvements , Inc. booth as they had windows and metal roofing (another product of interest) on display. David Logue, VP of the Company, introduced himself and utilized a low key, non pushy style to determine our interest and then provided features and benefits of the products he represented. David suggested the next step would be to arrange an appointment at our home, to fully demonstrate the Simonton Windows and take measurements to enable him to provide an estimate. We agreed to an appointment the following week. The appointment with David Logue of Metal Works & Improvements turned-out to be my second appointment of four I had scheduled with window dealers. David arrived a few minutes early for our appointment which demonstrated professionalism and a respect for my time. David's initial approach was to promote his company, his experience and the fact he is a licensed contractor in North Carolina. He took additional time to explain why it would be important for me to select a licensed contractor to perform my work whether it was with his company or not. David answered all of my questions and never tried to push anything on me. We agreed to allow him to measure my windows to enable him to work-up a quote. I received the quote by e-mail the following day. Over the next week I e-mailed David many times with all kinds of different questions. He responded to every e-mail and at one point I apologized for bothering him with so many e-mails. His response was to tell me to keep sending my questions until I had the information needed to make my decision. David never pushed me to make a decision and never used an aggressive sales tactic. My wife and I decided to purchase the windows from Metal Works & Improvements. David's crew of four installed all of our windows today. The crew arrived at the appointed time, were friendly and worked hard all day. David came by and spent a couple of hours to make certain I was happy with the job progress. The installation was prefect! After completing the job the crew leader conducted a walk-thru with me to ensure everything was too my satisfaction. They had even cleaned and vacuumed! The experience of dealing with David Logue and purchasing from his company, Metal Works & Improvements, Inc. has been a total positive experience from the first meeting to completion of the window installation today. I was so pleased I have decided to purchase vinyl siding and metal roofing from David which I will report on after those jobs are complete. "We impulsively purchased an old log home suffering from neglect. The
damage was much worse than we thought; we even had one contractor advise
us to tear it down and start over.
Clarence Gant, owner of Cand D Custom Log Finishing did not even blink. He and his crew dove in and spent several months putting our poor old house into good order.
The previous owner had painted all the logs a glossy brown enamel (to hide all the Bondo he had packed in to cover the rot!) and Clarence and his crew carefully sanded, stained and re-chinked our 2,300 Sq. Ft. house, replacing logs and railings as needed. This in itself was not small task, as the logs were of random sizes so the replacements had to be planed to fit.
They sanded, caulked, and painted the porch floors and ceilings, including even the screen porch ceiling, which peaks at about 20'.
They also arranged for a sub-contractor to replace a 12'x40' concrete slab porch on one side of the house. Clarence and his crew built concrete piers under the new slab to support it.
An unexpected problem occurred when they had to power-wash a board-and-batten addition (1950's), two large rooms off one corner of the house. When they started the power wash, the water came streaming through all the microscopic cracks in the wood! So they carefully caulked the whole addition and we have not had any more problems (or bats in the bedroom, for that matter!)
I cannot say enough good things about Clarence Gant and Cand D Custom Log Finishing. Without them, we would not have the beautiful, and much less drafty, log home we love so much. Thank you, Clarence and everyone for saving our house!"
