"We engaged Clean Hands Painting to paint the exterior of our house in the summer of 2018. I was immediately impressed by Junior at our first meeting. He showed great attention to detail and gave us a very fair estimate. Junior and his co-worker, Ephraim, were meticulous and cleaned up after themselves at each step along the way. They were the cleanest painters we have ever had work on our house. They pressure cleaned the house, repainted the wood, the metal railing, outdoor shutters and the front door. They also cleaned and stained the deck, which required replacing several of the boards that had rotted away. They carefully sanded the areas around the windows and repainted them. Additionally, they worked around our schedule, which was a huge help for us. They were responsive to all our calls and texts. The quality of all of the work was outstanding and I would not hesitate to hire them again for any outdoor or indoor project."

"I had been looking for a furniture restorer to repair a dining room table, a midcentury modern dresser, and also a midcentury modern coffee table. The table had extensive sun damage and the other two pieces were in need of repair and refinishing. After searching numerous home-improvement sites I came across Innovative Design. The majority of the reviews were very good, so I decided to take a chance and call Mr. Schmidt for a free estimate. He arrived promptly and was a very nice older gentleman. I first showed him the dresser and the coffee table and he told my husband and I what he could do to repair them and quoted a price. I then took him into my home to have him look at the dining room table. Upon seeing it, he marveled at how beautiful the table was. It is a unique piece and he was intrigued by the craftsmanship. He looked at every detail of the table and literally crawled underneath to get a good look at the craftsmanship. He gushed at how it was a “beautiful, special piece” and how he would love to take it back to his shop to repair. He stated that he could restore the wood to its original beauty, but was unsure about the inlay on top. He quoted a price which I thought was a bit pricey, but because of what seemed to be a genuine love of furniture and his promise to restore the dining room table, my “pièce de résistance”, I decided it would be worth it to entrust our precious pieces with him. He picked up the pieces on September 4th and we gave him a sizable deposit. Mr. Schmidt stated that the job would take roughly 3 weeks to complete. I didn’t necessarily worry about that because it was early September and I knew my table would be back in time for the holidays. After three days Mr. Schmidt contacted me about the small coffee table. He was having a few issues with the finish, and wanted to know which direction we wanted him to go. We replied back and both parties agreed upon what he would do to repair the coffee table. No problem there. After that I hadn’t heard from him in a while so I emailed him on the 17th to see where he was in the process. He then informed me that the dresser unit had a few issues because it was more scratched than he thought and the stain that he put on was uneven. He told me that he would continue working on it and send me a picture very soon. On September 23 he sent me a picture of the dresser. In all honesty the structure of the dresser was very nice, only problem was he painted all the handles black. The dresser was a wood and wood laminate midcentury brown. I initially told him I wanted it restored to its original appearance, so I was surprised and disappointed by the black handles. When I asked why he painted/stained the handles black, his response was that the wood grain varied so much that the handles stain looked unmatched and the dresser needed some contrast to stand out. I’m all for poetic license, but I’d already told him that I wanted it restored to its original state. This meant NO BLACK HANDLES! He then asked, “Do you want the dresser as is now? I am not able to improve the results.” No, I didn’t want the dresser because that was not what I told him I wanted. At that point, I called to speak to him to let him know that this was not what I wanted. I got his voicemail, so I left a message. The next day he emailed to tell me that he added wood blocks to the two front drawers in an attempt to camouflage the differences. I now had a dresser with black handles and two wooden blocks on each side. To be honest, I truly appreciated him trying to make improvements, but it looked nothing like I expected. I then replied to him and told him to remove the two blocks and to paint the handles brown. He finally did what I requested and sent pictures on the 29th. To his credit, the finished product was beautiful. On October 2nd, Mr. Schmidt emailed me with regard to the coffee table. He informed me that he was “at a loss of what to do with it“. My husband and I gave him some direction, because at that point we just wanted all of our furniture back. He didn’t respond, so we weren’t really sure if he would comply with our requests or what he was thinking. On October 6th, I emailed to find out how things were going with the dining room table and coffee table. I also asked when he could deliver the dresser, as he had stated in an earlier email that he could deliver each piece as he completed them. On October 7th, he responded: “When is a good time and day for you?  I can load up the dresser will need unload help at your end.  The little table is close to finish working on the top everything else is completed.  The dinning room table I will not be able to work on.  The time I have used so far on your projects has far exceeded my time frame.  Did not expect the problems with the dresser unit due to the veneer on the one drawer.  I will return your $600.00 for the partial payment or the table.  Of course all units will be returned to you.  I worked hard and diligently on your units just used enormous time trying to make them nice for you and your husband”. REALLY?!?!? I hired him solely because of all he said he could do to restore my dining room table! We discussed how this was THE main concern and how I wanted it done for the holidays. To have him email me after holding onto the table for a month and then tell me that he is unable to do it is beyond disbelief! If time was a factor he should have made this known early on, so I could remind him of how to prioritize the repairs or perhaps find someone else who could restore it. At this point, I will be hard pressed to get it repaired before Thanksgiving. I truly appreciate the work that was put into our other pieces, and as I stated earlier, the dresser is beautiful. He did a decent enough job on the round coffee table; it is sturdy and looks nice. However, when he dropped it off to our home on October 14th, the paint was still damp and smelled very strong. It is only because the dresser looks nice that, I’m giving him a C. I realize that the entire job took him longer than expected, but I wish that he had communicated this early on. He basically said, “Forget this!” and decided to not complete the job we hired him to do. Meanwhile, my dining room table is still a mess. He could have explained that it would take a little more time, and I even would’ve been OK with him requesting additional funds. Based on how he handled things with my table and the damp paint on the coffee table, I will not be recommending him to anyone. Very disappointing."

"i have used Shane services for close to a decade now and have never been disappointed with him or his work. He Built my 2nd story back deck, cut out and framed an interior wall window, installed glass panels in my kitchen cabinents, cleaned and installed gutter guards on my rain gutters. he has also installed outdoor flood lights and 3 way electrical outdoor light switches and outdoor outlet. He has also installed ceiling fans and a chandelier in the foyer with a cathedral ceiling. Shane has installed a bathroom toilet and kitchen sink. in fact he stayed until 9:30 pm that night to finish the job right. he also stayed until 10pm one other night in the pouring rain on the roof fixing a leak. He always goes above and beyond what you would expect. The bridge you see in his photo album is the bridge he built for me in the back yard and I have been extremely happy with his craftsmanship not only with the bridge but with everything he has done for me. I will never call for another contractor. Shane is reliable, trustworthy, talented and hard working. I never let anyone in my house unless I'm home except for Shane. I have total trust and faith in him and my dogs also love him. he is great with them and treats them as if they are his own. Shane has become not only my contractor but a true friend."

"I am the owner of a 1 1/2 story townhouse with a loft looking downstairs.  I have a 2 thermostat - one unit air conditioner.  I was experiencing extreme heat on my 2nd floor all year round.  In the summer my 2nd floor was unbearable due to the heat.  The air conditioning was working non-stop and downstairs was always really cold.  In the winter the downstairs had to be kept cold so that the heat would not rise to the loft area on the 2nd floor.  I kept my thermostat at a constant 69 degrees year round and we wore sweaters. I tested with a heat thermometer the walls and the ceiling.  On a hot day the walls would read 71-76 degrees, but the ceilings would measure read 82-86 degrees.
Haley Hahn was contacted because I have worked with them before.  They installed gutter guards on a previous house I owned and was extremely happy with their work.  I contacted Chuck, one of the partners, to discuss my issue.   He suggested the radiant barrier and how it would reduce the my ceiling heat to the same degrees as the walls give or take 1-3 degrees.
I decided to contract them and the installation was performed within a week.  The work was performed in 3 days.  Eric their professional worked really early because of the heat in the attic.  Eric worked from 7am - 2pm (1st day), 7am -11:30 (2nd day) and 7am-11:00 (3rd and final day).  They completely encased my attic, dormers, and walk-in storage.  It looked like the lunar modular at Kennedy space center when they finished.  All trash was taken each day and the work was extremely neat and tight.
We have experienced an amazing difference in the temperature upstairs.  I have raised the temperature downstairs to 71 and the house stays at that temperature.  The upstairs in the middle of the day stays about 1-2 degrees off the set 71 degrees.
I would recommend to anyone the work they guys have done to anyone.  Their are an old school company that says and do exactly what they were hired to do.

"Lee and his associate immediately found time to evaluate my project.  Within a day or so we had everything moving forward, with part of the project already nearly complete.  Battling cold, rainy, icy, weather the remainder of the repairs met our timeline, and Lee kept me informed all along the way.  The prices were good, and the work was hard.  But Craftsman Direct came through.  Thank you CD!

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can use a storage shed several ways, including as a chicken coop, but you'll need to make some modifications. You will have to add a chicken door, roosts, ventilation near the roof, mesh on the windows, and insulation if you live in a colder climate. Additionally, you’ll want to ensure that the shed is predator-proof so no other animals can harm your chickens. You should also add a run and nest boxes to your shed.

While prices fluctuate because of increased demand, fewer supplies, and engineering time, OSB generally remains more affordable than plywood at $1 to $2.40 per square foot compared to the $4.50 to $10 for plywood. Cost is only one factor you should consider when deciding between OSB and plywood.

A steel frame costs 10% to 20% more than a wood frame. Wood is a much easier material to work with, more accessible, and generally more affordable than steel—plus, you need specialized tools to work with steel.

It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.

Your chicken coop needs to be off the ground to protect your chickens and avoid problems brought on by flooding, mud, and moisture. If you can't locate a high area to build the coop, you should build an elevated coop to ensure it stays dry.
