"Installed sump pump. Didn’t press for the more expensive, expansive project. I appreciated that. I also loved that they communicated and set times and dates and confirmed. So far so good. We will see if problem is resolved."

"Sofia did a great job fixing my leaking in ground pipe. She and her coworker identify the location of the leaking pipe and fixed it in an efficient manner. They quickly responded to my request on a Saturday morning and arrived after only 2 hours even though I was fairly far away from them. They helped me out when several plumbers closer to me would not. I would highly recommend their services."

"Scott was great to work with. He was promo in emailing me and talking to me about my repair, which was tremendously helpful since he was the second company I had attempted to use after the first failed to make the repair. I sent him pictures and he gave an initial estimate of $250. The pipe where the leak was a polybutylene pipe, which I was worried would cause an issue, but he said it wasn't a problem. I scheduled him to come out on Saturday, but he called on Friday and said he was in the area and wanted to take a look. I was already home from work for lunch, and so he stopped by. He brought another tech with him, and were able to get the work done then. The entire service took only 20 minutes! Even better, the cost was a third less than he had estimated. After the fact, I had to pass on his insurance and license information to my Condo Owners Association, and he sent me the info within 24 hours. They did an excellent job.

"They were very professional and considerate of taking care of their work while at my home.  They completed the installation and made sure the system was working before leaving my home. My electric bill deceased and I have enjoyed a savings of about $350.00 per month since the system was installed. They explained the different types of system and advised me on the best one for the size of my home. A maintenance appointment was set up at the time of the installation and today I received a reminder call to set an appointment for them to come out. I am well pleased with Alpine and recommend them to everyone needing a HVAC System.

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes—your local septic company can clean your septic leach lines with a sewer jetter, a device that pumps high-pressure water through the lines to blast out any clogs and scum buildup. Unless there’s a clog or blockage in the lines, however, you do not need to perform this maintenance regularly. Do not attempt to clean your own leach lines, as you could easily damage them, leading to very costly repairs.

If you want to avoid using a snake to unclog a drain, or if you don’t have one, try vinegar and baking soda. Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes, and then run hot water (but not boiling water) down the drain to see if the clog is clear. Repeat multiple times as needed.

Yes, pop-up drains commonly get clogged with hair, soap scum, and toothpaste. It is important to know how to properly clean the drain or get professional help to ensure it remains clear and can drain water effectively.

On average, a plumber will take 30 minutes to two hours to clear a clogged drain. If the clog is located close to the drain or an access point and isn’t severe, the project will take about half an hour. If the clog is deep within your plumbing system or is a severe blockage, it can take two or more hours to remove the clog. For this reason, main line clogs tend to take longer, usually between two and three hours.

If the drain is frozen, the pipes connecting to the washing machine are likely frozen. If the hot water trick doesn’t also unfreeze the washing machine pipes, you can gently apply heat with a hair dryer on the lowest setting. Start at the end of the pipe closest to the faucet to prevent pressure from building in the pipes, and make sure the faucet is open to drain the water as it melts.
