"Mike and Crystal were very professional from the first phone contact through the completion of the work. They showed up on time, their work was neat and they worked very efficiently. My windows were in pretty bad shape. They really took their time and prepped them very well which showed in the finished product. When asked to redo or touch up anything it was done without question. In the end we received a very good paint job on a timely basis and at a competitive price. I have already recommended Mike's Painting to others in my neighborhood and would use him again for future painting needs.

"He was very friendly and professional. He came to my house and gave me an estimate within hours of calling him.
We are in the military and he was able to work around our schedule and come two days later.
We had our large living room with vaulted ceilings that needed to be painted which only took him
a few hours to complete. He did an outstanding job,and we will defiantly be using him again and
highly recommend him to anyone.

"I hired Rick and the crew from Veterans Roofing to replace the roofing on my home. From start to finish, it was an exceptional experience. When I first decided to get an estimate, I called and left Rick a message. Rick promptly returned my call. We discussed what I was looking for and we scheduled the date to measure my house for the estimate. Rick provided a comprehensive estimate of the job. His estimate was better the other two estimates I had received and then he gave a 10% military discount on top of it. So the best price got even better!
When the day came to begin the job, Rick and a full man crew showed up on time and ready to work. The team hit the ground running, immediately putting down tarps to protect my plants and bushes. This would also assist them later with clean up. While the crew was setting up, Rick walked around my home with me discussing the job, pointing out little nuances of the project and answering all of my questions.
The crew was great! They were extremely polite and considerate. The crew was always busy. I never saw anyone just standing around. Cleanup was a continuous process. Once the tear off was complete, the old roofing was loaded in a truck and out of the way. A member of the crew used a magnetic device to pick up all the nails in my yard and then picked up by hand any small pieces of shingle that may not have ended up in the truck. The crew on the roof was meticulous. In each area they worked in, I observed them snapping a chalk line to ensure the rows were perfectly straight and aligned with the area to the left and right. The crew worked hard until dusk, then made arrangements to be back the next morning to finish up the job. Again Rick was on site when the crew arrived. It was important to me to see his involvement in the job and oversight of the crew (leadership). In a few short hours the crew was done and gone, leaving me with a beautiful new roof , with an awesome cleanup job.
I choose IKO architectural shingles for my roof. IKO provided many color options. I narrowed it down to 3 colors. Rick suggested Dual Brown to compliment the color of our house and my wife agreed. They look great! I am extremely happy with the difference these shingles make in the appearance of my house!
I will use Rick and Veterans Roofing for any home improvement project I have. I highly recommend you call Veterans Roofing if you want a quality job at a fair price.

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Darker walls may make tight bathrooms appear even smaller, but one dark accent wall can really make a bathroom pop. Wallpaper with a dark background can add intrigue and sophistication. Still, if you’re looking to open the room up and give it a modern, airy feeling, light colors may work best for your needs. Although there are some popular and unpopular opinions, there’s really no “should” when it comes to personal design choice.

No, you don’t always have to remove old wallpaper before applying a new layer. However, you should pull off the existing wallpaper if it’s cracked, peeling, or in poor condition. We’d also recommend against putting wallpaper over textured or dark-colored wallpaper because the old layer may be visible through the new one. In addition, if you try to hang new wallpaper over vinyl-coated wallpaper, the adhesive might not stick properly.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

Once again, contact with moisture is the culprit here, though water-resistant varieties of wallpaper are less likely to become wet and develop mold. Using a high-quality exhaust fan or dehumidifier and leaving the doors or windows cracked after bathing will keep this issue at bay.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.
