"The team did an awesome job. The deck repair required climbing under the (very low) deck and placing 133 cross supports between the beams. I did a great job! I’d harder them again in a heartbeat."

"Excellent. The deck looks beautiful and the paint should last several years. They cleaned up after they were done. I’m very glad that I hired them."

"I was moving from another state and wanted the popcorn ceilings removed . I contacted before my closing and while I was while I was in town for it had them come over for and estimate, I contracted them Monday 11/10. When I came back Saturday morning 11/15 the job was done. The ceiling turned out beautiful, the place was completely cleaned and neat, the even vacuumed cleaned the new carpeting. I am extremely pleased with Straight Edge and highly recommend them. "Sergiy and his crew are great! I am remodeling my kitchen and they completed a handful of projects for me. They care about their work quality and are very professional. Sergiy was transparent with what work was being done and the associated costs. I would highly recommend Sergiy and his team!"

Small jobs welcome

"I hired M.A.S. Painting and Remodeling to paint my guest bedroom and repair a water-damaged wall, and I’m very pleased with the results. He was punctual, professional, and extremely neat—he left everything spotless. The work was done to a high standard, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him or hire him again in the future. Great job!"

"Ariana and Carlos are wonderful! They scheduled my estimate quickly and were actually able to complete the work the same day. Following completion of the first job, I immediately had them handle some interior painting which turned it beautifully. I plan to continue working with Pleasant Land for my upcoming home projects as well."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.

The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.

Opt for an interior wood stain that is rated for your type of wood. Consider your personal style preferences as well as the overall use of the room when choosing a color. Remember, the color you see at the store may look different on your actual floors once applied. This is why if you have the chance, it’s helpful to test a few options on a scrap piece of wood in the room first. Once you narrow it down, you can test a small patch on an inconspicuous area in the room to see it on the actual floors.

Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.

By applying protective finishes and using durable materials that withstand weather and time.
