"I could not recommend this company enough!! I will definitely hire them again for future work. They were extremely reasonable, very punctual and effective, and overall did a great job. They cut down two of my trees and were extremely professional and clean. I was expecting a little bit of a mess, but they did an outstanding job with making everything look presentable and nice. HIGHLY RECOMMEND."

"Does real good work. I think he put more chemicals down than my previous lawn man getting a good coverage to my lawn. I would recommend him to friends and family for his services."

"Silva's cut my grass, cut down two dead dogwoods, cut vines and shrubs from the back fence, raked up around pine trees and the back fence, and cut two big limbs from a large oak tree.. Clean up was great. Best my yard has looked in a LONG time, and first time I have seen that corner of the fence and yard in 25 years. Would highly recommend them . They are my go-to lawn care folks."

"Had shown this job to several free service people some did not feel like they could get their equipment in there others agreed to the job but never came back when I talked with mr. Sanchez he said I can get it done tomorrow and he did just that he did not have to bring any of the machines or other equipment in most of the work was done by hand and chainsaw and it was a fairly large tree no fences had to be removed it was an excellent job he was easy to deal with and I would recommend him to anyone with the a tree removal job"

"Charles , owner of company called and texted within minutes of me entering the search on a Sat no less! He was here the following Monday, prompt, reasonably priced, more so reasonable than his competitors. I will be calling him again to remove some more roots in yard I didn't catch the first go around! Highly recommended for others. Shop no further, you found your professional stump grinder right here! Sheila Honeycutt"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

It is possible to cut down a tree on your property yourself, but it is generally not recommended unless specific conditions are met. You should only consider this project if the tree is small (e.g., under 4-5 inches in diameter and short enough that you don't need a ladder to reach the branches), and you are experienced in handling a chainsaw. The tree must also be located far from any power lines, fences, homes, or other structures. Even for small trees, the work can be dangerous, and it's always advisable to have a spotter to ensure the tree falls correctly and no branches fall on you.

For any tree that is large, requires a ladder to access, or is near electrical lines or structures, you should always hire a professional. Attempting to remove a large tree yourself is extremely dangerous, poses a risk of serious injury, and could result in significant damage to your property.

Before any tree removal, it's also important to check your local and state regulations to ensure the tree is not historic or otherwise protected by your city.

Unless there’s some sort of rule in your community’s homeowners’ association that requires you to remove a stump, there’s no law that says you have to take it out. If you’re not wedded to the idea of removing it, there are plenty of ways to get creative with this tree remnant. Using the stump as the medium for a wood carving or turning it into a planter are just two examples of ways to repurpose a tree stump.

There are a few differences between tree guying and tree staking. Tree guying requires anchor stakes that are shorter and stronger than regular stakes and are driven deeper into the ground at an angle away from the tree. Tree staking uses longer stakes that are set parallel to the tree and are used for smaller trees. Consult a local tree professional to determine which method is best for your tree.

No. Topping a tree refers to severely cutting down all its major branches and tree in a straight line. It was once recommended for streetside deciduous trees but has fallen out of practice. Topping leads to many problems, removing so much of the tree that many trees struggle to survive and become much more vulnerable to insects and diseases. Also, it doesn’t really help tree growth as once assumed and often leads to an ugly appearance of many sprouting stems in competition to become new main branches.

You can use herbicides to prevent roots from growing without killing the tree itself, however they must be used with caution. Systemic herbicides are absorbed by the root and can kill off problematic roots. However, herbicides can sometimes negatively impact nearby plants, so the solution is best used sparingly.
