Small jobs welcome

"ZR Landscaping transformed the mud pit that was our backyard into a beautiful patio with new landscaping and a retaining wall. The team showed up regularly and worked extremely hard each day to finish within two weeks. Communication and customer service were excellent throughout the entire process and the team left our yard and driveway clean afterwards."

"

They were on time which is much appreciated. They went into crawlspace and wrote up an estimate. This included: clean the air w/an air scrubber set up outside. Seal all vents, remove debris, clean the mold from the wood. Install 6 mil vapor barrier and a dehumidifier. The cost of this would be $5320 including the Angie's List discount.

This would have been all well and good but the true cause of the moisture was not found. Eventually we found that the shower was leaking and that was what needed to be fixed. Water was coming from the shower floor, overflowing the bladder underneath, leaking into the crawlspace.

Had we spent the $5300 to do what they wanted to do, we still would have had a moisture problem. Two other companies did not find the problem either but they also wanted thousands to seal off. Needless to say, fixing symptoms without fixing the root cause is throwing money away.

"I want to take a moment to recognize the outstanding work done on the recent property grading project. From start to finish, the job was handled with exceptional skill, attention to detail, and professionalism. The grading was completed efficiently and precisely, with the land leveled perfectly to meet both drainage and design requirements. The equipment was operated with care and expertise, and the final result exceeded expectations. The slopes are clean, the transitions are smooth, and the site is now fully prepared for the next phase of development. What impressed me most was the level of communication and pride taken in the work. Every step of the process was explained clearly, and any challenges were handled without delay. It’s clear this wasn’t just a job—it was a commitment to quality. I highly recommend this team for any property grading needs. Their work speaks for itself, and I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again. — James Arrington"

Aquarium Services questions, answered by experts

Most septic tanks need to be emptied every 3 to 5 years, but it’s a good idea to monitor the fill levels of your septic tank all the time. You can do this by installing a pressure level sensor to detect the internal tank pressure, or by having a septic tank company perform an annual inspection to let you know when you’ll need to pump the tank.

Common drain issues include slow-running drains, whether in a sink or shower, clogged drains, a bad smell, and water backing up into a sink, shower, or bathtub. Causes range from hair, grease, roots, or toilet paper clogging the drainpipes to flooding outside the home, which prevents sewer lines from draining properly.

To get rid of a sewer smell in your crawl space, you’ll have to find the source of the problem. If it has to do with your sewer lines, then repairing the line will help. You may need to make other repairs, like fixing your sump pump or encapsulating your crawl space to reduce moisture. After you make the repair, depending on the issue, you may still need to clean out your crawl space to get rid of the stink.

When your septic system is failing, you’ll probably smell it. Common signs of a septic system failure include sewage odors in the home or around the yard, flooding in the yard above the septic tank or in the leach field, and wastewater or even raw sewage backing up into your home’s drains.

The average cost to pump a septic tank is around $550, though prices can range from $250 to over $1,250. The final cost depends on several factors, including the size of your tank, how full it is, and your geographic location. For example, pumping a small tank might cost between $290 and $530, while a larger 1,750-gallon tank could cost $600 or more. Prices also vary by region; for instance, costs in Minneapolis range from $175 to $275, while in Portland, they can be between $440 and $750. Regular pumping is essential to prevent waste buildup, which can lead to backups and damage to your drain field.
